September 3, 201313 yr I currently have cable(Time Warner) but hear nice things about DTV. What should I do?
September 3, 201313 yr I've had DirecTV for 10 years and I like it. Got very fed up with the local cable company and their constant and unexplained rate hikes. The one big downside to DirecTV as some in other threads have pointed out is that the signal is sensitive to rain and regardless of what they say it doesn't take a heavy rain to disrupt your signal. Other then that I've been very happy with it and the service.
September 3, 201313 yr DirecTV and it's not even close. Once you've had DirecTV, I can't imagine anyone ever considering switching back.
September 3, 201313 yr I have fioptics and I'm reasonably pleased with the service. No service interuptions and the internet is very fast.
September 3, 201313 yr I have D-TV and I love it. Only draw back is after your 24 month contact is up it's kinda pricey.
September 3, 201313 yr I have D-TV and I love it. Only draw back is after your 24 month contact is up it's kinda pricey. Are you doing month-to-month now? My Dad's contract was up and he does it on a month to month basis now, and is paying like $75 and has free premium channels and multiple TV DVR and HDs. Just tell them the price is too high and now that your contract is up you're going elsewhere and magical discounts will start to appear.
September 3, 201313 yr I had Direct TV for several years and now have Cable. I have Cable for two primary reasons, 1) better faster internet through cable company 2) hate losing signal every time it rains hard.
September 3, 201313 yr I'm seriously considering switching to DTV or Dish. I currently have TWC internet. I had a stump removed in my back yard the second week of July and they cut the cable (only buried about 2 inches). TWC was great about sending someone right out to fix it however to date the replacement cable is still not buried. I've called 3 times, the first 2 weeks after and was told there was no order to have it buried. They put in their system and said it had to be scheduled out 30 days. The 30 days came and went and the line was still laying in my yard. I called again and was told they didn't know why it hadn't been done. I was talking to someone in Louisville and they said they would have to contact the local office to find out, she would call me back. That was last Monday. Today, after not hearing back, I called again, sat on hold for 18 1/2 mins, finally they get to me and I'm told it has been rescheduled to Sept 12th but no idea why. I ask for a supervisor and get put on hold for another 12 mins, he was as useless as the other person I talked too. Was on the call for a total of 40mins and didn't get anywhere closer to getting the line buried.
September 3, 201313 yr I've had DTV for 11 years now. I've had 0 problems over the years other than losing a signal during a strong downpour. When I first had it, I'd lose it with every rainfall. The technology has changed over the years, and for me, it only goes down during a very strong downpour. When I lose the signal, it's generally no longer than 15 minutes. For my neighbors with Time Warner, when they lose it, it's usually for hours or days. Our neighborhood was without cable and internet for 24 hours over the weekend after a storm rolled through. I've looked at Time Warner, Dish, and Cincinnati Bell Fioptics, and I just can't leave DTV.

I've lost signal maybe 3 times in the year and a half I've had Direct TV, and it was only for about 3-4 minutes each time, if that. :idunno:
September 3, 201313 yr I grew up in an area where there was no access to cable (still isn't any there actually). We had satellite, and I can say without wavering it was the worst. We had DirecTV, and it stunk. We switched to Dish, and it is better, but the primary problem is loss of signal due to inclement weather. I recognize everything has outages including cable, but generally when the wind blows too hard or it's raining heavily, I don't just up and lose my cable. I basically swore off satellite at that point and I've yet to see a reason to go back on that, despite Time Warner and their atrocious customer service record moving in.

I've been meaning to call them.
September 3, 201313 yr I switch from Direct to Dish every few years. Never had cable. Direct is the better product IMO, but I've found Dish to be much cheaper.
