If a team was caught stealing calls or taping scrimmages, what would the KHSAA penalty look like?

 

Define 'caught'.

How hard would it be to jam the signal of the headsets? or interfere with it?

 

Maybe it's the big rigs going down 471 shouting out on their CB's...

When I coached youth football, my players had play bands and I would hold up large laminated cards with numbers on them that corresponded with numbers and plays on their play bands. Yes, we ran a no huddle offense in youth football. Coaches were constantly screaming the numbers to their players because they had scouted my numbers and thought they knew the plays.

 

Little did they know, we would have a multiplier for the number that I changed from game to game like, "add one to every number I hold up", or "subtract one from every number I hold up".

 

But, nonetheless, coaches scouted my number cards in youth football. Don't you think high school coaches would similar things?

I would love to see them scout your spelling.

Or, maybe its everytime the Lyons Club throws another "rolled meat" special into the microwave at the concession stand on the far sideline and gives it a spin that could be interfering with signals.

 

If you recall, Lyons Club only sold 3 of those things all day that Sat and UC coach has three interruptions, coincidence??? I think not :thumb:

Last night a committee of HHS coaches was on the field trying to solve communication issues with head sets. I heard the clicks was still present and Major Tom had trouble with ground control. I was ready to pull out the CB and say is that you Bandit...

I wouldn't be so quick to discredit the possibility. I've known programs to do worse.

I really think you are underestimating the relative ease of tapping into someone's frequency/channel, etc.

 

I don't know of anyone personally doing it, but I would imagine that LOTS of illegal video taping goes on (taping scrimmages, taping signals, etc). I don't remember the name, but I think a basketball coach has been disciplined by the KHSAA in the past 5 or so years for illegally filming.

 

If objectively looking at the evidence that it's actually happened recently (where someone was caught, which leads one to wonder how often it happens where people aren't caught) means I'm "wearing a tin foil hat", then I guess I'm just looking for a heart and trying to get Dorthy back to Kansas.

You speak of the accusation of it being suspicious? Come on. You don't know what happens and what doesn't happen, so don't act like there's not a chance in hell it could have. It happens. Teams try to gain an advantage over other teams in sports, it's just the way it is. It's the same thing as teams in college recruiting committing minor/major violations and never getting caught on it. It happens at just about anywhere. You're naive to think Highlands hasn't tried this before in the past, because I think based on this thread alone it's pretty obvious that it's common.

I am saying what was termed suspicious wasn't suspicious, just problems. Am I reading you right that you're admitting that your team has done this? I am saying there are teams that are above it. Good teams don't need to do it.

I've never been to or seen a Highlands game, so I'm definitely not accusing them. I'd imagine they could draw out the play they were going to run, give it to the other team and players, and still roll over the majority of teams they play.

 

On the other hand, I've heard about schools going out and watering their fields down, so it wouldn't surprise me if someone made a trip to Radio Shack or ordered some tech supplies from the Internet just to see how it would work.

I don't doubt that a few teams would cheat, never said otherwise. I just don't think the top teams need to or have the inclination to. They have too much to lose trying something that is not neccessary. Plus, top programs tend to have top notch people at their helm.
