September 1, 201313 yr On one side you have Pres. Assad, Iran and Hezbollah. On the other you have Al Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic left wing groups. I understand that chemical weapons must be a no-no. Also, some in the know believe the so called rebels set off the chemical weapons to make it look like the Syrian government. Both sides hate us. We will still have to do battle with the winner. I say let them fight it out...
September 1, 201313 yr Bottom line is that this conflict does not concern us. We are not the World Police and shouldn't act like it. We have our own problems back home with our economy, job market, health care issues, and massive piling debt. Getting involved in another war is something we cannot do right now.
September 1, 201313 yr I agree 100%, Russia is an ally of Syria and even have some soldier stationed there...no way we need to get involved. If the loss innocent lives are the reason we are going in or attacking, why don't we go to Africa and stop the massive amounts of killing going on there?
September 2, 201313 yr Hopefully Congress will not sanction this...down deep I think the President is hoping they get him off of the hook too. He'd been saying that he could strike without approval or unilateral support, now he's backed up a little and is asking for congressional support. I applaud him for going to congress on this issue, with there being no direct threat to America there is no need to strike without the approval of congress and the American people.
September 3, 201313 yr I doubt Assad used chemical weapons on a bunch of school kids, what would there to be gained. The rebels probably did it. As a matter of fact they admit it. » Rebels Admit Responsibility for Chemical Weapons Attack Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind! Read it and believe what you want, but as much as our country lies, why believe them.

September 3, 201313 yr Uh-oh. Bipartisan politics. Top Republican, Democratic lawmakers back Obama on military strike against Syria - The Washington Post

September 3, 201313 yr Uh-oh. Bipartisan politics. Top Republican, Democratic lawmakers back Obama on military strike against Syria - The Washington Post It's really time to reach for your coat and get out when this is the case. I really hope we sit this one out.
September 3, 201313 yr On the other you have Al Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic left wing groups. Wait... how do people who want their political system organized by a 1,000-year-old book end up on the left wing? Now there have been Islamic socialists before, but it was guys like Nasser, Arafat and Gaddhafi. Certainly not fundamentalist groups like al-Qaeda. I suppose it's all relative in the grand scheme of things but "left wing" is among the last thing I'd use to describe these people.

September 3, 201313 yr True. But remember. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." That doesn't seem to work too well for the US in the Geo-political sense...in fact I really can't think of many times it has worked to our favor in the long run.

I am not advocating it. But if you think the left-wingers and MB make for strange bedfellows just look at who each considers 'the enemy'.
September 3, 201313 yr Right up until today, I had some faith, not much, but some, in the Republican Party.
