Possibly not but he probably is on this team. Choo and Votto are the best players in the league at getting on. BP, Bruce and a healthy Ludwick are their 3 best options to drive those two in. BP is for sure not a 2 hole hitter with a .321 career OBP. This year hitting as well as he has with RISP (probably a fluke but still) it makes even less sense to hit him 2nd.

BP should have been done from this team years ago because of his antics. This is just another peice of a very bad puzzle. Seeing Dusty just laugh while its going on shows you why this team has no give a darn about it and never will with him at the helm. Also shows your the smarts of BP, to say what he said one on one to C. Trent, with the door closed, fine I have no issue, but to barge into a meeting with Dusty and media guy (knowing they are recording it on some level, they do it every day) just shows hes nothing more than a dumb selfish clown.

 

If I am Castellini, Dustys gone and BP for sure is gone at season end, if not sooner, no reason for this at all.

You tell me Belichick would have sat there awkwardly while one of best 3 or 4 players dug himself into a hole looking like a buffoon? NO! He would have cut him off, told him to get out of his office, and dealt with it later.

 

I'm a pro-Dusty guy and defend him regularly, but that was quite possibly his most ridiculous moment as Reds' skipper.

He just doesn't walk all that much historically. I'm not sure about the answer to your question though about hitting 2nd regularly. I think he will approach hitting 2nd differently though.

It would be interesting to see his number of career at-bats in each of the various spots. It seems to me he's never been given a spot, and said it's yours. It's always been more of "well, we don't have a leadoff hitter, so we'll put Phillips in there" or "well, we lost our cleanup hitter, so we'll move Brandon into that spot". I don't think the Reds have ever really been consistent with where they want him to bat.

Did I miss a tweet? The only tweet I saw gave BP's OBP and Frazier's OBP. I didn't see anything critical at all. Straight up factual numbers.

I get what everyone is saying that Dusty should have said something. But honestly, the media has ripped Dusty since he's been here, especially this season. Why would Dusty stick up for the media? Those names you mentioned didn't take near as much criticism as Dusty does from the media or the city in general.
