Now, before the sensitive males get on here and say I'm bashing (raiderbird, 75center, jackofalltrades and most other HHS fans), towels was a very good high school QB. However, put barker at HHS and he probably passes for 4000 yards and gets offered by Alabama. Is towels as successful playing at Conner? Probably not. Would be funny if a Conner QB and HHS QB go to same school and the Conner QB becomes the starter, time will tell.

 

Difference here is you are talking about a college athlete and not a high school athlete.

Towles would have had Fogle just like Barker did so if you factor that in I have every reason to believe that Towles would have been just as successful. It's truly too hard to gauge though.

This comparison can't be made until the end of the year. Right now, all you can compare is their skill set, quicker release, tighter spiral, decision making, etc.... only after having the whole body of work can you decide which had the better career and was a better player.

I don't know who is better and unlike you, I only post when I know enough to enter the conversation. I saw Pat play live about 25 times but I've only seen Barker live once and he was uber impressive. I do know that Pat was the best I ever saw live going back to 2003. I suspect Clive has seen both live multiple times and he's fair enough that if he thinks Barker is better, I have no problem. The one thing I, and most other posters, do know is that if the two had gone to the different schools, you would be on here knocking Barker and singing the praises of Pat. Predictable.

We have seen numerous examples in this thread that shows you cannot use numbers to make the decision. Too many variables. Drew has a chance to hit 50/50 for his career. Does that mean he is better? No.

I have only seen Drew play 1 game (versus Cooper last year), but my impression was they were very similar on the field. The Cooper game last year, it seemed like Trosper ran Drew quite a bit and he looked very much like Pat - purely judging on athleticism. I couldn't begin to compare arm strength, accuracy, release, etc. based upon the small sample I saw. Off the field I don't know either kid personally, but my impression is that both are high quality individuals.

No, but it is extremely impressive. Last year we had the 40/40 thread and came up w/ like 2 names on it. Great to have athletes like Barker, and Towles, come out of NKY. I don't remember this when I was in JR. High and High School.

Very true. I think there were a few 'what if Towles was at Ryle and Pike was at Highlands' conversations though.

I always viewed it as there was a real convincing debate that Pike was more talented than Towels, but that Towels might be a better collegiate prospect because of intangibles like leadership that he brought to the table that some felt were missing in Pike.
