Who is the better runner? The better passer?

 

The other thread is on tangent with this debate so I thought we should give it its own thread.

 

Thoughts?

Two studs. I'll take either.

 

The challenge is that we're comparing PT's senior year (crazy good) with Drew's junior year(also crazy good) but we haven't seen Drew's best yet. PT was better as a senior that he was as a junior - as most high school QBs are.

 

Obviously, I'm a fan of both. I wish PT was getting some more time in Lex. I hope Drew starts for 4 years. Yes, I'm biased.

I'll add this for those who somehow think Drew's passing is not at a top level. Besides being named Elite 11, UL's Coach Watson said Drew has the most pure release of any QB he's ever seen.

 

I can't argue for or against that. I'll just take it as a pretty strong indicator from someone in the biz.

Great question. I have yet to see Barker play in person so I don't feel qualified to answer. I look forward to the answers.

As one former college football player once told me, "you are five minutes from going from third string to starter".

That Johnny Moxon kid from West Canaan, Texas was probably better than both of them, plus he ended up getting an academic scholarship to an Ivy League school.

 

I believe it was Brown University, he had a stellar supporting cast on his team as well.

Towles won almost every highschool game and won state championships.

I look at it like this. Who does more with less. Now, before the sensitive males get on here and say I'm bashing (raiderbird, 75center, jackofalltrades and most other HHS fans), towels was a very good high school QB. However, put barker at HHS and he probably passes for 4000 yards and gets offered by Alabama. Is towels as successful playing at Conner? Probably not. Would be funny if a Conner QB and HHS QB go to same school and the Conner QB becomes the starter, time will tell.

Why would it be funny?? Barker put his time in on the camp circuit, so I don't think I agree that he would have gotten a better offer had he went to Highlands. And there's no way to predict how many yards Barker throws for on another team. In fact, I think he be farther behind if he had went to Highlands. He likely wouldn't have gotten as much playing time early in his high school career (no way he starts over Towles as a sophomore). And I think Towles would have been equally successful at Connor...although, all that though is really silly, and just conjecture anyway.

And he would probably have a good line that opened holes for their running backs, which means a more balanced offense and sharing touches. When you have more offensive weapons, you use them! Which means opportunities are spread out.
