I'm beginning to believe that Williamsburg may be a top 5 team, should know more after they play a good North Laurel team this weekend.

What would be really nice would be to see Williamsburg and Somerset play later this season. They both have the same open date and both only have nine games. But you are right, their game this week against North Laurel should give a little better read on them.

Looks about right. Russelville might be the #2 team. A shake could happen after this week but I believe this is close to how it will be at the end of the season.

Most of the ranked teams have challenging games this week. We should have a much better idea about everyone after this week.

No disrespect to Russelville but outside of Mayfield, there isn't a team in 1A that will be a threat to Beechwood this year. Offensively, they are on a whole nother level than all of the other teams. How they respond to the loss of captain and leader Jack Talley will be telling.

Correction ... Talley is not a team captain. Only seniors get voted captain by the team and Talley is a junior. Talley is a loss and he is respected as a team leader. He may be a captain next year but he isn't this year. The best thing about that injury and loss is that he is a junior and will get the chance to be on the field again next year.

It looks like the corrected rankings have Williamsburg in the top 5. They need to have a good showing this week to prove you are right and belong in that top 5. Williamsburg played a weak schedule last year. It is nice to see them upgrade the schedule this season. Good luck to them versus North Laurel. I always like seeing the small schools get a win over a big school.

I do enjoy the posts but I have got to ask why you would make such a statement. They are a serious threat to both Bw and Mf. They are even bigger problem for Mf being in the same district.

I memory serves me correct, was Fairview not #3 last week? That is a large drop for a team that has yet to play. Williamsburg is a question mark but appears to be worthy but I wish I knew more about Halls Tn to feel better about them at #4. I was unimpressed with Raceland's performance and think I would lower them a spot at this point

 

All and all I think your poll is as good as possible for this early and you should take that in high regard as there may not be anyone other than walter who is more in tune to 1A football than I

Fairview has a lot question marks and a lot of players to replace. I could see them being #3 preseason based on what they have done over the past few years. But when they got destroyed by Johnson Central, the question marks got a lot bigger. So I can see why they dropped.

 

Halls TN is not a good team. Williamsburg has something to prove this week against a good 5A North Laurel team.

Looking forward to the Russellville/Fort Campbell match up. This should tell us how close Russellville is to Mayfield.

What will seperate Mayfield from the others is Mayfield's line is probably by far the best in 1A. If there is a better one or one even close I will be greatly surprised.
