Fairview has a lot question marks and a lot of players to replace. I could see them being #3 preseason based on what they have done over the past few years. But when they got destroyed by Johnson Central, the question marks got a lot bigger. So I can see why they dropped.

 

Halls TN is not a good team. Williamsburg has something to prove this week against a good 5A North Laurel team.

Looking forward to the Russellville/Fort Campbell match up. This should tell us how close Russellville is to Mayfield.

 

FC's biggest weakness appears to be up front where I expect Rville to exploit them in a similar score to what we saw Mf do. That said Mf really took their foot off the accelerator in the 3rd and 4th quarters and went to a ground and pound clock burning offense that used a lot of clock but did not continue to produce a lot of points. Both Mf and FC suffered late in the game from the heat with cramps and a lot of that was greatly aided from the Mf no huddle in the heat.

I memory serves me correct, was Fairview not #3 last week? That is a large drop for a team that has yet to play. Williamsburg is a question mark but appears to be worthy but I wish I knew more about Halls Tn to feel better about them at #4. I was unimpressed with Raceland's performance and think I would lower them a spot at this point

 

All and all I think your poll is as good as possible for this early and you should take that in high regard as there may not be anyone other than walter who is more in tune to 1A football than I

 

 

Probably already been said, but Fairview's 187-20 scrimmage loss (or something like that) probably factored into the thinking.

And you are basing your impression on the opinions from BGP's posts from Raceland supporter's that are expecting great things this year? Yes, we did not play as well as we expected but to play flat and still hold a team to 150 total yards (80 yards on a broken coverage) and 2 Int returned for scores is not too shabby. I guess we will find out what we have this week so I'll reserve judgment on our Rams until I see how we play against Ashland.

What I was trying to get at was that I really expect them to be a slight favorite to win the east but that showing left me with doubt for now. I agree this week will tell us a lot more. It seems like Nicholas County has hung around the fringes of the top 10 for several seasons now. The biggest problem for the Blue Jackets is they've not been able to clear the Fairview and/or Raceland hump in the district, which has made their playoff tasks extremely difficult.

I didn't mean to sound defensive. It is hard to evaluate when you play on a Sat and your opponent is not as talented yet plays you harder than expected. Saying that, good teams have to worry about playing to their own potential not down to the opponents potential.
