I don't need no stinkin PA to tell me what is going on or who did what; so they can unplug them all as far as I'm concerned! Of course, I liked Keeneland when it was silent. Getting old has its benefits: you have an excuse for being grumpy.

I've heard nothing but great things about Mr Collins and he's obviously a great supporter of and asset to the Camels.

 

With that said, his style is not for me. Way over the top.

 

The "first down" call is cool and it gets the fans going. Love it. The commentary though...

 

Maybe it's an acquired taste.

Yes, the CCHS guy is annoying, but he does do s good job. Best I've heard, Walton veronas guy.

Campbell County has the best - he puts some humor in it and recognizes players from both teams. He does a great job!!!

I like Greg Rose at Campbell, but Bourbon County's guy is energetic and has some good slogans. Also Montgomery County's was poor he continually called out the wrong players.

Is there a rule in KY against PA announcers doing play by play? I know there is one in Ohio. I definitely would not want a PA guy doing play by play. If I were a coach, I would complain about it as well. I see that as interfering with play on the field.

The guy who did the first quarter at the Highlands game Saturday was very good. Articulate, not too loud or over the top. Then they switched to another guy in the second quarter who mumbled and stumbled every time the microphone was turned on. If this was an audition, hands down that the first guy wins!

I'm not a fan of the Camel announcer. If I want play by play I would turn the radio dial.

 

No doubt. There's no need for Play by Play. I'm there watching it. Just give me the facts and let me know when the burgers are ready in the concession stand. That's IT!. I was watching a Middle School game at Beechwood a couple of years ago. Whoever it was drove me nuts. Not just play by play, but color commentary between plays. I have no issue with the First Down and Touchdown calls, but the play by play has to go. I think he thought he was funny and everyone love him.

The hardcore rap before the game as warm up music is bad enough but having Ryle play music while your QB is under center is just rude.

Loudness is the main problem, yes. On a larger scale, why do we need the recorded "let's get the crowd pumped up" stuff period? Isn't that why we have marching bands and cheerleaders? Let the kids do their thing during lulls in the action.
