You say that, but lets look back. Bowling Green for example, the JR/SR on that team were back to back state champs at Middle school, and the Soph/Freshman all made State semi finals in either 7th or 8th grade, ironic that they are the best team in 5A right now?

 

Lets look at Somerset for example, they have won state championship I think 3 times in the last 5 or so years, they are doing very well. Caldwell Co, made a state Semi Finals Trip in Middle School, now the high school team is ranked #1 at 2A.

 

Owensboro Cath and CAL have both had Regional Finals and State Semi finals appearances in middle school the last few years.

 

I could go on, your point of "Its just middle school isnt valid, when some of teams who did well at middle school a few years ago, are now at the top in High School.

 

I can buy this somewhat. The '05,'06,'07,& '08 Newcath teams that were back to back State Champs ('05 & '06) & back to back State Runners-Up ('07 & '08) were undefeated and unscored upon for 3 straight years & the other year they were undefeated and only gave up 6 pts. in the Jr. High ranks.

I get what you are saying but many schools don't send their teams to state middle school tournaments, espceially up here. Additionally, I put more in to staffs with proven ability to develop talent. Many great middle school teams are dominated by early developers. I dont put much stock in Frosh teams either for the same reasons.

I wouldn't even start to bring middle school into the argument at all... I remember back in 2007 I believe in junior high football, Newport was the #1 seed in the playoffs, and beat Campbell County that year (I believe Campbell County won it all), then goes on to get "upset" by Newcath. IMO, junior high is NOT a good measurement on how a team will be a few years down the road. It may offer a little bit of insight, but a lot of kids won't actually reach somewhat of their potential until Junior/Senior year. Problem with judging by it is the fact some kids on that team still may go to a different high school, then there are the kids that may not play in high school, and the fact other kids can still come in from various schools. To be honest, I wouldn't even buy into it with freshman football, Beechwood could beat Highlands in freshman football, then lose to Highlands by about 40 in a varsity game with the same players.

To be totally honest.....never seen him play, but when you consider that each brother was, as good if not better, than the last......:idunno: Ben '01-'04 2249 yd's 36 td's, Mark '06-'08 3373 yd's 49 td's, & Chris '07-'10 4232 yd's 65 td's.
