It does not matter this year, last year, or any other year. The last time it mattered is 2000 when it was a real game that was played at Trinity. Ill bet that most coaches use scrimmages to work on things, get reps etc.

BTW- any team would be called "down" considering what they lost to graduation the last couple of seasons...Plus, A perceived "down" Trinity team is still extremely good.

Finally, I am pretty sure Whackem' is not a Highlands fan.

I'm pretty sure Whackem' is.

Well, sometimes his posts do not make it seem that way.

Sweeperboy:"Was this the game between Gino Guidughli and one of the Brohms, maybe Brian?

T came up a little short in an absolute gunslinger of a show

If so, then that game was played at Montgomery Co, site of the oldest and original preseason bowl classics...The Recreation Bowl."

This is correct. This was Coach Beatty's first game at Trinity.

Did I hear correctly that they are only playing three quarters of regular football? If so, not as excited for the game and wonder if the score will mean anything.

The scrimmages have been three quarters of regular game situation varsity action the past couple of years. I understand that may be cut back to two quarters this year. All Tell knows his stuff regarding the time constraints involved in a KY high school scrimmage.

All this excitement over a meaningless game? I know it's Highlands-Trinity, but come on.

There will be 4,000 or more in attendance. Admission is $5.00. Concessions available. Momma Rocks will selling their fan wear!

Officials, regular game uniforms.....shortened version of a NFL pre-season game.

It was Beatty's first game and in the Recreation Bowl at Mt. Sterling. Geoff Riddle was Ts starting QB, Brian Brohm didn't play varsity ball as a freshman.

And FWIW that last few years the Rocks and the Bluebirds have played a 4 quarter game type varsity scrimmage. At the conclusion the JV and frosh from both teams played 30 yard games at opposite ends of the field for whatever of the 3 hours was left.

With all the hype around Highlands, they better win or they may not hear the end of it this year.

Why does it matter this year? In past years most HHS fans have bent over backwards explaining how Dale just uses these games to work on some things and get plenty of reps for as many players as possible. Is it the fact that Trinity is expected to be down and Highlands is expected to be really good? Is Dale going to try to win the scrimmage this year?

Highlands is a Great Program one of the best in the history of the state bar none, but you guys kill me...:lol2:

I agree we can get pretty excited, but I bet half the people that give us crap about it are KY bball fans. So my guess is that you do the same thing around bball season as we do for high school football. It's just passionate fans and it doesn't matter who or why you're passionate, it's the fact that you are probably exactly the same way, just about a different team or topic.

I haven't been to maybe 2 BBall games in the last 5 years, been to around 50 Football Games...so your guess is wrong. HS Football is my favorite sport above EVERYTHING else.

For the "blue-blinded" Birds fans, that may be the case. Those in the know are aware that this scrimmage has been treated in all respects like a real game by HHS for the past few years and will be treated as such again. The last couple of years, Trinity has been better than HHS and the knowledgeable fans acknowledge that. That said, they have gotten much more out of competing with Trinity in these "scrimmages" than 90% of their regular season games. If Trinity whips us again this year, I will be slightly disappointed but will remain focused on winning in Bowling Green in DEC.

Brian was not the QB...he was a freshman....believe it was Geoff Riddle

Didn't see All Tell's post.

Okay reaplace it with whatever you are passionate about. My point, everyone is passionate about something and act the same way (defend, promote, etc) about whatever that is.

And I was stating that my guess was that half of the people that crack on HHS are probably KY bball fans. And "if" you were are KY bball fan (not necessarily you in particular), you (meaning the KY bball fans) act the same way about bball.

A question that I honestly don't mean as a shot against anyone. If taken that way I apologize in advance I swear I don't mean it to be snarky in any way. Some from outside the T and H communities have questioned why there is such excitement for a scrimmage. Do you think that maybe the excitement about football, any football even a scrimmage, within those communities could play any part in the continued success these programs have enjoyed? Just an estimate but I bet there were 500 people at Trinity last night for an intersquad scrimmage. Do you think that if some of that excitement started within other communities around the state that the level of football in those places might improve?
