"If we are already minorities on campus and are soon to be minorities in this country why wouldn't we have the right to advocate for ourselves and have a club just like every other minority?" Sharp, 18, said.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reportsexternal-link.png that whites comprise 38 percent of Georgia State's student body, followed by blacks at 35 percent, Asians at 12 percent and Latinos at 7 percent."

Guess this kid didn't do his research...

Whether or not they're minorities is irrelevant IMO.

I see no issue with doing this, as long as other groups are allowed to do the same.

I don't have an issue with it, but to label themselves as minorities does bother me a bit.

I can understand that. I think he's stupid for using that, especially it being incorrect, as a reason for starting it.

I do wonder what kind of reaction this will get from the public/media.

My guess is those hoping to get negative reactions are going to be disappointed.

Yeah, starting it for that reason is just wrong.

Somebody will definitely have a problem with it and/or make it a bigger deal that it should be. The fact that we are discussing it already may be an indication that's already happened.

Through my traveling experience I spent some time on a few college campuses that had what I would call "some heightened racial tensions". I can only imagine what would happen if this took place on those campuses.

I don't see an issue with it. But its more than likely an attempt to gain attention.

I don't have an issue with it. I do think it is an attention grab but no issues with it from me.

Weak, but it's their right. That will look good on a resume.

Lame.

Perhaps, but let's not kid ourselves. As a whole, the Greek system hasn't been known for its diversity. Some individual fraternities do better at it than others, and it has gotten better than it used to be. By the same token, I've been to more than my fair share of fraternity houses with lawn jockeys prominently displayed.
