July 26, 201313 yr How so? Please explain how that's the case? It says they're allowed having the gun on campus in a locked car. It's not like the cars were passing through metal detectors or searched on a regular basis previously. Well, I suppose that brings up another question...if they have the guns locked in their cars, how are they going to be able to respond and avert a shooting if it happens away from their cars?
July 26, 201313 yr I think this makes for a fantastic experiment to test both sides of the gun argument. Will the presence of more guns on campus lead to more opportunity for homicide? Will the homicide rate drop due to the presence of more guns? Let there be a study done and let scientific truth win out over rhetoric! Wonder what happens to job applications for campus police?

July 27, 201313 yr Author Does anyone remember about twenty years ago when the concept of concealed carry was building steam in KY? Opponents were predicting random gun fights breaking out in the streets between conceal carry holders. The police were even very cautious of the idea of concealed carry. This may have been more magnified in Louisville due to many Louisvillians having a bizarre fear of guns. 17 years (I believe) after passage, reports of a concealed carry holder breaking out into an insane shooting rage are virtually unheard of. If one did in KY, the Louisville media would be tripping over themselves reporting on it and would be going on about it for months. For the most part, people carrying legally are not the people you need to worry about. It is the ones who carry illegally who don't care if they are in a gun free zone you have to worry about. Most police agencies admitted their worries of concealed carry never materialized. I took my concealed carry at the Jeffersontown Police Department and an officer we ran into thanked us for being responsible gun owners. 20 years ago I was 4 so no I do not remember that. This may turn out to be a good thing.
July 27, 201313 yr If they were smart' date=' by allowing trained staff members carry.[/quote'] Still doesn't answer my question based upon the facts as they stand right now. But for the record, I disagree with what you propose as well.

July 27, 201313 yr Still doesn't answer my question based upon the facts as they stand right now. But for the record, I disagree with what you propose as well. Color me shocked. :lol2: Avert? They might not but the fact that some idiot shooter will think twice knowing response time will be much faster than if they didn't allow it may possibly avert it there. Also remember, according to this law (if I read it right), not everyone can bring a gun on campus, only concealed-carry permit holders.
July 27, 201313 yr You'd rather just let god sort them out after the fact huh RM? Not sure what you mean... Suzy Q is in Econ101. She has her gun locked in her car as permitted. Roid Rage Rodney bursts into the room and starts shooting. How does the fact that Suzy Q has her gun locked in her car help anything?

How does the fact that Suzy Q has her gun locked in her car help anything? How does the cops being minutes away to tens of minutes away help anything? Armed staff...that's the answer. Consider this law a step in the right direction.
July 27, 201313 yr So if the law only says that they can have a gun locked in their vehicle and not in the class room, what would be wrong with that RM? Or do you disagree with that as well?

How does the fact that Suzy Q has her gun locked in her car help anything? Perhaps, Quick Acting Quincy is in the next room and upon hearing gun shots rushes to his car to get his gun in the locked car and is able to intervene saving countless lives.

RM just thinks everyone on campus should have dogs to thwart would be attackers rather than access to innocent people killers(guns).
