July 25, 201313 yr He hasn't but he may get his shot. But I did hear that Beachy will probably be brought up now instead of later. I believe as of now Beachy will pitch Monday.
July 25, 201313 yr Author Wood proved again today that he can't be relied upon to start. He can't even give the Braves half a game. In two starts against the Mets (by no means world beaters), he has gone a combined total of 7.1 innings and required a total of 163 pitches to do that. In the first one he at least managed to only give up a run. This time he made it 1.1 further but gave up 4 earned in 4.1, and was lucky it wasn't worse as he left with two on. I'm not saying he can't manage to pitch well enough to not give up runs, but he needs way too many pitches to do it. He'll break the bullpen if he can't even give them five innings. The Braves HAVE to get a starting arm. Make Wood a long reliever if need be, but they will have a black hole in the rotation if Wood is a starter.

July 25, 201313 yr Author Didn't they jump Wood from AA to the club though? He's been with Atlanta off an on since late May. Yes, he came from AA originally. His latest stint he was with Gwinnett getting ready to become a starter. But it's not like he hasn't seen major league hitting. He's been serviceable as a reliever, he's just using way too many pitches in his starts.
July 25, 201313 yr Author How long is Maholm going to be on the DL? It's just a 15 day stint, but they had originally intended to transition either him or Medlen to the bullpen upon his return. In other words, one of them was seen as not good enough to keep starting.
July 25, 201313 yr Read the Braves are scouting Peavy. I doubt they make a move for him though. Any idea who we would trade if they do make a move?
July 26, 201313 yr Ouch!! Hopefully he has a speedy recovery. This is the reason why I would much rather play the Outfield
