The bad thing for Russell is that GC just out hustled them. GC was patient on offense and when then did shoot, they generally hit. I think Greenup hit 5 of their first 7 from from 3 point range. I don't know what the stats say, but i would be willing to bet Russell shot under 30 percent for the game and Greenup over 50 percent. Nice game plan from GC. Russell at no time looked like they were in any offensive flow.

That is a tough thing for a coach to swallow when your team gets outhustled. you can accept getting beat if you put forth the effort. I wouldn't expect that kind of an effort from the "Dodd Squad"

Great Win for Greenup Co. AND YET AGAIN ANOTHER CORRECT PREDICTION FOR THE BLUE BLAZER!! I take a serious razzing on BGP for my predictions and I haven't been wrong yet! I thought that the Musketeers had a great game plan and were very patient offensively in turn which maybe tired Russell out a little and the 3 ball they rely on wasn't falling! WOW!! What a week in the 63rd!

Yes, Russell was at full strength. He did favor the ankle a little bit and it looked as though it bothered his elvation on some of his long 3's. He was short alot ( on his shot) However the Musketeers D was all over him tonight. Greenup Co. played a great game tonight. The Furnace was packed and STEAMING HOT!! I had sweat pouring off me! ( ALSO CHASING A 3 YEAR OLD) Nevertheless Greenup did what they had to do to win and it was Big win to control the game as they did. From the 2nd quarter on Russell got no closer than 7 points.

Greenup didnt press. They made Russell play half court and forced outside shots. Devils couldnt hit .

Russell was pathetic. Greenup out hustled, out played and out coached them. You have to give Hicks or his assistants alot of credit for this one. If Greenup would have played patient and moved the ball like that last year, they would have ended their season in Lexington. Hopefully this ugly loss will serve as a wake up call much like the Boyd Co game did in football this year. There is not much worse than losing to a team that you know you should beat.

This just demonstrates how wide open our Region is this year. But, don’t expect the winner to have much success as they try to advance. IMO, basketball is down in general in our area.

The level of play is down statewide...not just here in the 16th region.

It may be down statewide, but the 16th should be happy they will just get beat and not embarrased at Rupp.

I have said all along that Russell is not the favorite to win the Region as many Devil fans keep trying to say. Russell started slow and now they are healthy, but they still haven't proven to me that they are one of the top 3. Of course they have a chance as do other teams, but they aren't in my top 3 favorites. The Boyd Co. game should shed some light on their current progress. This game could have been a fluke, but it sure doesn't help the Devil posters argue their case.

Greenup plays some serious "D"! The only time they are not in your face is when you are shooting free throws.

Greenup is for real. They have played Boyd tough twice, even though they lost both, and beating Russell may just give them the confidence they need to carry them to regionals.
