Brandon Phillips Is the Most Entertaining Player in Baseball

Featured Replies

It would mean something if he was a good baseball player. His entertaining on the field is what gets him thrown out from 2nd to 3rd all the time.

I am beginning to think LRCW's psyche analysis is true.

He can't be any worse on the basepaths than Votto, who usually leads the Reds in boneheaded plays...

I think his comments are refreshing. I grow so tired of the PC rhetoric that players spew off when they get asked a question sometimes. Phillips, opened up, kept it real, and I'm sure Joey Votto doesn't give a damn what Phillips had to say about him making 200+ million dollars.

I love this and its very true:

“Number one, the fans love me here. I love it here. It’s a blessing. It shows that [the team] invested a lot of money in me to go out there and do my job, and to keep representing the Reds in a positive way,” he says. “I feel like that’s the only reason I got that deal—if they didn’t feel I was important to the city, then I wouldn’t still be here.”

Could only imagine if this were a St. Louis Cardinal... Maybe he belongs with those "whiners" instead... But I think the Cardinals like the guy they have now and about 1/12th the cost.

He called the owner a liar.

That's sort of something, right?

When is the last time he got thrown out going to 3rd? I can't remember any.

The Braves series right before the break, and the big one in Game 3 of the NLDS.

Red players don't whine only Cardinal players.

It is. But of course the owner lies. It is a sport. If he did not lie every player could ask if he was on the trading block. Every agent could ask for whatever he wanted for his player. Every media guy could ask any question he wanted about injured players, profits etc. It is a given that the owner is going to lie. The owner knows it, Votto knows it, Phillips knows it, Arroyo knows it and has even said he knows it is a business and everyone is going to lie.

Well duh. Glad you said it.

Can't argue with Red fans on this topic.

Just a couple of weeks ago, stopped half way between third and second and then tried to take off for third again and was out by 15 feet. He was hotdoging and got burnt, again.

Every Reds fan is spoiled by the awesomeness of BP in the field. If you are going to harp on the mistakes and then equally harp on the amount of runs BP has saved over the same course of time I'm going to guess you are going to be saying a LOT of nice things.
