Because Fairview was state runner up last season with several new faces from across the river in Huntington, WV. KHSAA denied them eligibility, they played on injunction, KHSAA appealed the injunction and lost. So, Fairview would be the logical conclusion that the comment was aimed. Love probably made a generic comment albeit in somewhat poor taste if not gamesmanship.

I'm not taking a guess at the school, but I'd say it's a coach from Eastern Ky/16th Region area.

Coach Love was 100%, without a doubt, no question about it, talking about Fairview just like every other coach in the area.

 

"Transfer" and "Recruit" are not interchangeable.

I don't know the man or the real circumstance but it might just be wrong is wrong. No matter the classification.

I find it interesting that Ashland is traveling to Newport in week 0, when Fairview was needing a game in week 0 becasue West Carter dropped the Fairview game.

JC has received several defectors from Paintsville Independent, Lawrence County, and Sheldon Clark over the years including the O'Connor kid this season. The rivalry between those two schools has grown to one of the fiercest in the State.

 

With that said, for Ashland to be taking shots about players from outside the district lines is laughable at best. The Tomcats have had more border jumpers than a rundown town on the Rio Grande.

It seems to be a terminology problem that I see repeatedly. Transfers happen, they happen all the time and in every school district. "Recruit" is a player that is sought after, sought out, encouraged. No coach, administrator, or many fans get worked up over a "transfer", what upsets people is, "recruits". Two words, totally different meanings.

I think we could name a lot of teams that have dropped Fairview or won't play them. Have you asked yourself why?
