July 3, 201313 yr Why are you willing to vilify TM and believe every word from a guy who has as questionable morals as GZ? If I were facing a murder rap, I'd lie my butt off to get out of it, everyone would. Well, unfortunately for those rooting for a murder conviction, Zimmerman's story has stayed pretty consistent... before he was even facing the murder rap. There was a big gap between the time he was charged with murder. It was not as if he lawyered up and conjured up some kind of story to protect himself. His story has remained pretty much the same. There are bits and pieces we can nitpick all day long on both sides of the fence. From all accounts, Zimmerman statements, the witnesses called, etc. there are not many gaps in what happened from my perspective. To me the big question is, "do you think the events as they transpired warrant a murder conviction?" Everything else is for show -- mentoring, gang signs, etc.
July 3, 201313 yr I think the rush to vilify Trayvon Martin and point out his pictures flashing gang signs or that he called Zimmerman a creepy cracker are just as damning as the 12 year old picture that was touted as Trayvon. None of that is pertinent to the fact that he was an unarmed kid who was killed by an adult. The only thing that would give me pause is if they found a gun that Trayvon had and was going to use on Zimmerman. I don't care what he called Zimmerman, I don't care if he had previous burglary charges, I don't care if he was flashing gang signs on Facebook. None of that changes the outcome of that night and the fact that Zimmerman killed a 17 year old that was unarmed. I don't care about any of that stuff either. GZ had a right to be there, and a right to ask TM why he was there if I understand correctly. Then, it is a matter of who initiated the physical confrontation as to guilt. If TM initiated, GZ is innocent of murder, it is self defense. If GZ initiated, it was some level of murder. (IMO) From what little I have kept up with it, I don't get a sense the real truth is known. As far as the talk of rioting, this is absolutely ridiculous, and if this was to happen, those who incite should be held accountable.
July 3, 201313 yr Excellent point. Sometimes the bad guy gets away with it. I still believe in the system that we have though and will continue to do so until someone else comes up with a better idea. Life caught up with old OJ though, didn't it? In the end, everyone has to explain their actions to someone higher up whether it is for taking someone's life, stealing, or carrying hate around in their hearts for no reason and acting upon that hate. I believe in the system also and I believe the prosecutor is doing a bad job and that the defense has put up a respectable fight that very well could get Zimmerman acquitted.
July 3, 201313 yr Good point. The prosecution didn't prove guilt with OJ Simpson either. They freaked them with the okie doke. Still do not get how he get off :lol2: I remember everyone going nuts at school when they announced his acquittal.

I feel like GZ initiated when he got out of the car with his gun after a dispatcher told him an officer was on the way and that it wasn't necessary for him to follow TM. Others feel like TM initiated when he allegedly started the fight. Definitely agree on the rioting. It couldn't be more stupid to riot in this situation.

I'm sure I could embellish the facts a little and get away with it if the other guy who knows the truth is dead.
July 3, 201313 yr In my opinion, if there is rioting involved, the media will be to blame. Anymore, instead of just reporting the news, they sensationalize everything and put their own spin on things to get ratings and sell newspapers. It's disgusting.
July 3, 201313 yr I see no way that Zimmerman should get off completely. He followed Martin. He pursued Martin and got close enough that an altercation ensued. No matter how the eventual fight happened, it occurred because of Martin's actions.
July 3, 201313 yr Why are you willing to believe that TM was the saint that everyone proclaims him to be? Why are you willing to believe that GZ is a profiling racist? I don't know a thing about GZ's questionable morals but it sounds like TM's morals were just as questionable. Innocent until proven guilty and so far, the prosecution has not proven guilt IMO. I've never said he was a saint. I've said he was an unarmed, 17 year old kid, who was minding his own business and didn't deserve to be followed or shot. Those aren't assumptions, those are facts. GZ WAS racially profiling. The evidence supports that. How come he called 911 6 or 7 times in 6 months and every time he reported a suspicious black person. You mean to tell me you believe he didn't once in that time see an unfamiliar white person walking around in the neighborhood? GZ is the one who had a restraining order for domestic violence in his past, resisting an officer with violence, and battery of a law enforcement officer.
July 3, 201313 yr I'm glad I'm not on the jury for this trial. There's no way I could be. I'd tell them there's no way I could be objective.

I'm sure I could embellish the facts a little and get away with it if the other guy who knows the truth is dead. I agree. But take GZ and TM out of it. The story is still pretty much lining up with how he said it went down. Again, it comes down to, "do you think the events as they transpired warrant a murder conviction?" Was there an intent for him to get out and kill Martin. To me it is manslaughter and where they are trying to get it to.
