I hope Trayvon Martin supporters have the sense enough to not riot when Zimmerman is acquitted. It solves nothing and it's not going to magically convict him either. July 3, 201313 yr The one problem I have is the coverage. I hate how CNN etc keep showing pics of treyvan represented as a clean young upstanding young man. They never show the pics of him flashing gang signs etc which he has many. Show both instead of trying to portray him as one thing. Portray him as the person he was, both good and bad. If Zimmerman is acquited there will be riots simply because of the racism they are making it out to be.

Lord knows that Americans probably would have said it's a good thing Zimmerman did kill that unarmed kid. Just another gangbanger waiting to carjack me. Good riddance.

The media and lawmakers have exploited Trayvon and his family for their personal agendas. That is the point I am trying to get at.

You're right....The 6 or 7 911 calls in the prior 6 months to report suspicious looking blacks in the area are all a product of the media. If Trayvon had been white, Zimmerman would've never followed. I don't necessarily think it was intentional profiling, but it was very much racial profiling that led to the incident occuring in the first place.

That is the type of story the media and lawmakers love. I agree, frankly the evidence to convict is slim. All the talking heads on TV talk about is how bad the prosecution is doing and little else. In other words, they all state the problem but I don't hear any solutions.

With that said, Martin made it a racial encounter according to the witness that testified and I saw a report that suggested Martin had other prior criminal activity including possession of burglar tools. Assuming the burglar tools allegation is true Zimmerman's instincts would be considered excellent police work. Not necessarily his actions, but his instincts.

A lot of us on BGP have Concealed Carry Deadly Weapons License, so at what point in a fight would you consider pulling your gun to stop someone that you were getting beat up by. IMO You Don't Shoot: If, the other guy gets up off of you and stops the attack If, your able to get away from the attacker and they have no weapon If, you can physically control the attacker IMO You Shoot?: When other guy has a gun, knife or is hitting you with some other object When other guy continues to attack after you are subdued and unable to mount a physical defense When you are attacked by multiple attackers

I don't think it is the media's fault if there is rioting and at the end of the day we need to take away from this situation that an unarmed kid was murdered by an adult because he won the fight between the two people.
