Riots and looting when Zimmerman is acquitted

Featured Replies

Martin's death is tragedy.

With that said, Martin made it a racial encounter according to the witness that testified and I saw a report that suggested Martin had other prior criminal activity including possession of burglar tools. Assuming the burglar tools allegation is true Zimmerman's instincts would be considered excellent police work. Not necessarily his actions, but his instincts.

All he had on him was a can of juice and a bag of skittles. What was he going to do, break a window by throwing the can through it?

I don't think it is the media's fault if there is rioting and at the end of the day we need to take away from this situation that an unarmed kid was murdered by an adult because he won the fight between the two people.

Not splitting points but I don't think fight is a fair analogy in this case. I've not heard or read any testimony where there was much of a fight. TM struck GZ in the face and then jumped on top of him and continued. Yes TM won the "Fight" but I don't think there was much of an fight to it.

GZ I think was an overzealous Neighborhood Watchman and went out of his way to find nefarious activity. To him anyone he didn't know in this gated community was someone he watched. I don't think he had a good reason to be following other than he didn't "Think" he belonged in that neighborhood.

End of the day this is, as you said, a tragedy.

I just say TM won the fight because people seem to justify GZ's actions by saying that TM went Chuck Liddell on GZ and was using a ground and pound technique to whip GZ. I agree with you for the most part.

If Martin's past is called into question then Zimmerman's past of racial profiling should be called into question as well.

Mark Fuhrman anyone?

Didn't Zimmerman mentor young black men/children? Or am I hearing things?

I am talking about priors, not the night of.

Didn't Zimmerman mentor young black men/children? Or am I hearing things?

Yes I heard the same thing. In think he is referring to the many 911 calls that always seemed to mention suspicious black subject, that GM has made.

Prosecution may rest today, looking to call Trayvon's mom as last witness.

Are you of the opinion that GZ was the only racist involved in this fight or do the words "creepy cracker" mean something different to you than they do to me?

That's correct. It seems all one had to do to qualify as suspicious in GZ's book was be someone unfamiliar and black.

Makes sense. Mentions and mentors can be confused for one another if the circumstance is right.

That's the first I have heard of GZ the mentor. I'm not saying he didn't. I just hadn't heard that one.

Nope. Trayvon made a racist statement. Does that excuse the racial profiling from GZ and excuse GZ from murdering Trayvon?

I love how the justification of GZ's actions and how Trayvon the gang sign flashing racist are becoming more prevalent.

No it does not.

Is there a culture class between hispanics and blacks in this country. Other than LA gang wars is there a big culture class?

It is an assumption that GZ was racially profiling TM. An assumption, I might add, that was encouraged by the media and their splicing of the 911 audio that made it sound like GZ was targeting TM just because he was black. It is a fact that TM made racial comments about GZ.

If we are to believe GZ's story, he was walking back to his car when attacked by TM. At that point, all is fair in love and war. While it is unfortunate that GZ brought a gun to a fist fight, the state of FL says he was allowed to do so. You say murder; I say self-defense.
