I find it rather hysterical that the moment someone mentions something unflattering regarding law enforcement, they're immediately branded a criminal. Typical ignorance.

Whether you young guys like it or not, that is the truth. People who have the most trouble with authority figures, often have an angle that involves a history of going against established rules. As you get older your perspective will, hopefully, change.

When faced with having to deal with someone who has those qualities in every day life we can tell them just what we think about their attitude and arrogance and not be arrested for it. Police officers SHOULD be held to a higher standard than the general public. I am grateful for their service but no one has forced any of them to take that career path. If they can't treat the public with the same decency and respect that they expect from us they should not be in that field, period.

They are held to an almost impossible standard. I think the big problem with this whole discussion is that two or three people are painting a profession with FAR too broad of a brush. That is blatantly unfair!

So it is okay for you to assume that most people that have a problem with their treatment by the police are criminals but it is not okay for Deuce to assume that a good percentage of police have poor attitudes because of the way he has been treated? Hypocrisy at its finest.

When you single them out, you are implying that there is some special prevalence of these traits in law enforcement. This, of course, is just nonsense.

A large percentage of the police that I and the people close to me have encountered fit the mold we are discussing, which has been my basis the entire time. I'm not sure why it's so hard to understand that viewpoint...

The people that I've encountered who don't like police, tend to not want anyone to tell them what to do, whether it be a boss, police, parent or a message board moderator. That's ok, but to single out police is "ignorant at best."

The thread was about excessive force in law enforcement! It's not like I started a thread bashing police... Continue to assume all you all want. Everyone who disagrees with how some police act are not criminals. Including me.

You can't snow us into thinking you're a mild mannered polite individual when we've been on BGP for 10 years. You gave some vague examples of why you don't like cops. No big deal, but you say stuff like "is there a problem?"

 

One thing I've learned doing what I do, is its not what you say, it's how you say it.

I am very outspoken and opininated on matters that I know. You have to give respect to get it. I haven't EVER tried to hide who I was to anybody. Just because you don't like how I talk doesn't make you an expert on occurances in MY life, regardless of what you do.

Everyone has personalities. Some hate anything that represents authority, some have short fuses that are easy to ignite resulting in profanity laced statements without anything substantial being said. I see it all the time...
