Xgrad-JAGdad Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 It has been 2 months now and I still hear talk as to whether St. X made the first down on the 4th and 3 play. Anybody out there feel like they had a good angle to see? What's your call?
Sandman32 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Looks like 55 met him at about the 3 by the picture. Where was the mysterious spot for a first.
Xman85 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I was there....and can tell you that it does not matter......If you do all the things that you need to do, throughout the game....a call by a ref won't matter....X did not play well enough to win and Trinity did.....The difference in the game was X's penalty problem...You cannot play like that and expect to beat a team of Trinity's calibre.....the team that played the best that night won...period...No Excuses!
Jim Schue Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I was about six feet to the left of where that pic was taken from, and while the angle I had wasn't great, it still didn't look like he made it far enough.
oldonetechnique Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I would say it was what the ref called it, or did X and T pitch in a few thousand each for instant replay?

knnal Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I was on the field, standing just to the right of the line of scrimmage. No doubt about it--they did not get the first down. In fact, I can say that the officials called a very good game overall. As a reporter--that's the most objective view I can give you.

Penalties is not an X usual but that game had to set some kind of a record for them, especially in the playoffs. Having a sophmore in at QB for more than 1/2 the game dosen't help, he played well but was no Curley.
quickslick Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I am an impartial 3rd party with no affliation to either team. I was very close . . . . . with an "above" angle. My opinion (not that it means anything) is that he EASILY HAD THE first down. All of the people that I was with felt the same way. (Again--I know this means very little at this point).
CentreRocks Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Penalties is not an X usual but that game had to set some kind of a record for them, especially in the playoffs. Not really. X had 13 more yards (96) of penalties just three weeks prior against Manual. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051112/SPORTS05/511120427/1002/ARCHIVES Having a sophmore in at QB for more than 1/2 the game dosen't help, he played well but was no Curley. Not even close to being true. Zoeller enters the game with 1:35 to go in the 3rd quarter. Last time I checked that doesn't amount to more than half of the game. http://www.khsaa.org/football/2005/4afinal.htm#GAME.IND

0116cwb Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 He's very close to goal line, needed to get to the 1 yd line. Check it out!

He was not effective the rest of the game and was finally replaced a bit too late. Yes it was a first down but what else is new.
