Another Trinity kid I like is Craig Owens, a husky inside player who plays with great effort.

 

I've always been an Owens fan also. Been a fan ever since I tried to figure out who the big man for the Magic is when he was a freshman. Very solid in the paint. Too bad he isn't taller.

If he can grow a couple of inches over the summer. Look for upcoming freshman Jake Ohmer to get some minutes for Scott. Kid is probably one of the best athletes in Nky.

Dre Jackson of Campbell County will make noise in NKY as he can score from anywhere and his defense is getting stronger. Mitch Bolin at 6'7 is coming along nicely and should see increased minutes for Dixie. Austin Schreck has a ton of ability, good floor vision and is a very smart player who is scoring with relative ease this summer. Matt Mullins is a name to keep an eye on! Kids is a rebound hound and really knows how to clean up the mess under the basket, and has a nice jumper.

Dixie's soph class in general is pretty strong and will be solid over the next two years.

 

Look for LIam Rabe to be one of the better PG's in NKY next year. Also, Drew Moore will be playing basketball next year too. KId is crazy athletic. Would've been the best all around basketball player for Dixie this year had he played. SO versatile at 6'4.

 

Really like Dre Jackson too. Kid put on a clinic in the first half of the DIxie game when I saw him. A lot of young talent around the state coming up.

Watched Drew Moore play in a game at Covington Turners. Kid was unbelievable. Scored about 40 points and won the game on a half court heave!

I'm not familiar with young Gunnar's game. At what position would you see him playing next year at the varsity level?

I see him off the bench playing more of a shooting guard position. If you give him 3 feet he will shoot it and will make it. One of the better shooters I have seen. Comparable to Nick Fredrick.

I take it Gunnar is Bo's little brother? Who is Gunnar playing AAU with this summer? Does he play football as well?

I meant playing varsity, not sure who he plays AAU for. I do believe he plays football.

Bigger Stages:

Two kids I'd look out for on a smaller scale are Ethan Hall and Simon Christian from Knott County Central. I think they each have the potential to make them a nice find for a smaller school. Playing with Justice will get them some more exposure than they might get otherwise, and I thought both were a little underrated last year. With Hall's size and ability, I really think he could turn some heads. On a side note, his grandfather was one of the bigs on the Wayland team if I'm not mistaken. They were talking about this during the WYMT Mountain Classic this year, and I'm almost certain that it was Wayland, and if not them, it was Cuba or one of the teams that the history buffs should know.

 

For Perry County Central, Braxton Beverly and Justin Johnson are having break-out summers. I wouldn't necessarily consider them "newcomers", but they may be taking their games to bigger stages at the next level and get some attention from schools that we might not have expected over the last year.

 

 

For Cordia, I am really anxious to see what they will end up having based on how their schedule has changed. With the way it looks like it's been beefed up, I'd expect them to have a solid core.

 

Freshmen-to-Be:

Austin Combs was an 8th grader who had a nice role complementing what they had last year. From what I understand, he's a local kid whose grown up in their system, and could be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the competition and exposure he'll receive playing with what's now around him.

Peyton Broughton of North Laurel came onto the scene with some meaningful varsity minutes last year, and I'd expect his spotlight to continue to grow.

In the Lexington area:

 

Tay Guyn of Scott County. He's the younger brother of University of Cincinnati guard Ge'Lawn Guyn, and was the only Freshman listed on Scott County's Varsity Roster last season. Not really going out on a limb to say his development will be one to follow.
