May 6, 201313 yr I've seen it happen often at the State Championships in both Track and Cross Country. That is ridiculous. I can't believe people haven't made a stink about that. First, shame on any track official who sees what he/she considers a uniform violation and doesn't tell the kid they need to fix it before they run. Second, if a kid participates in a uniform at the regional and qualifies for state, whatever uniform they wore at regional should be accepted at state.

Rebel, were you at the 2A State XC meet several years ago when one of the Lloyd girls (and Lloyd was a PLAYER at the time) got nudged across the starting line by her teammate (too many entrants in the state championship meet to line up in one long row, so they stagger them so there are (for example) 24 team "slots"; the top runners on each team are on the starting line and the rest are right behind them). The girl that was PUSHED was DQd for crossing the line. By a foot. In a 3.1 mile race.

I could not remember who the person or team was but I remember that. I was thinking that this person was ranked that year also. I plainly remember a father from our team and others close by becoming really vocal towards this official, that I was afraid he was going to get tossed ( if that's possible). I know this official heard the complaints.

Kids bust their butts for months, heck for 3 or 4 years if they are a senior, and then they lose out because an official doesn't say remove your warm up.

To be fair...shouldn't a competitor know the rules? It's not the official's responsibility to inform them.
