Do you know of anyone who has Ran, Threw and Caught a TD in a single game?

Featured Replies

Any good shotgun QB could do this on a nightly basis, catch the snap throw the td or run it in.

Didn't the Pugh kid from Paintsville account for 10 td's in one game last year thru a variety of methods?

I think your right actually. It was somewhere from 8-10 im sure of that.

WAY!! I belive it was against Evarts in the playoffs this past year. I know he did it I saw it on film and it was either the last regular season game or against Evarts.

The last game of the regular season was against Pikeville so it must have been the game against Evarts in the 1st round of the playoffs...Pikeville beat Paintsville last year at home 20-14. Having said that Pugh is a great QB, who is very athletic and a threat to score a TD with his arm or legs everytime he catches the ball. Pugh is the best QB going into the season in EKY and Class A IMO...he is going to be very good this upcoming year and as long as he is on the field for the Tigers they are a threat to win the district and/or region title.

I believe that is accurate. I think he threw for several and rushed for several as well. I remember Brian Milam was amazed by the numbers and swore it was not an error and that WYMT had confirmed it. I think it was against Evarts as that was the game they scored 71 points in the playoffs. Pugh accounted for 43 TD's last year (21 passing & 22 rushing) plus 1 PAT, so he is not stranger to the end zone.

Didn't Ronnie Hawkins do it a few times for Danville?

Pugh did it against Evarts. I think he threw and ran for 9tds and scored another on a punt return.

:thumb: I couldn't remember the exact numbers of each, but knew he had one of those special games you rarely see.

The KHSAA recordbook shows him with 10 TD's against Evarts in 2005, tied for #2 for a game with Herbie Phelps of Old Ky Home and 1 behind Don Gullett's 11 for South Shore McKell vs Wurtland in 1968.

BTW, in 4th place is Monquante Gibson who had 9 TD's for Moore vs Shawnee in 2001.

Gullett's 11 TD's were HIS. Not throwing it to someone else that scored - he took it across the goal line himself. Tack on another 6 PAT's in that game, for a total of 72 points scored. Oh yeah - and he sold hot dogs at halftime of that game as well as playing the drums in the marching band... :thumb:

Not sure how he got all of them, but that's pretty impressive.

On a side note, Gullett didn't play for the old Greenup High School - he played for McKell High School in South Shore prior to the consolidation into the present day Greenup Co. High School (sorry Woody).

You're definitely right on those three, Woody. I can't remember, but it seems like there was a fourth school in that consolidation.

Maybe someone from GC can help us out on this one. I do remember that the consolidation took place in 1974 (then again, at our age, I'm not making any guarantees).

I went back and read the Paintsville vs. Evarts thread. I'm pretty sure he had 4 means of scoring TD's. I originally posted after the game that he threw for 4, ran for 4, returned an interception for one and returned a punt for one. So I'd believe that's how it was, but I've been wrong before.

You would know better then me on what he did, I just remember he ran a punt back for a score.
