I'm somewhere between Starks and Big Black Jack. I'm a "Kind Corrector". I do appreciate good grammar usage. I don't like to read poor grammar, it makes me cringe. I agree that it can be an ego thing with people that you don't know. However, there are times when something is so blatant that I feel like I need to mention it, but always with kindness.

 

Example: Will there be soar arms with all the early season baseball practices?

Kind Correction: All the practicing will make the ball soar, and their arms sore.

I'm close. All that stuff was drilled into me by my stay-at-home mother.

That's a typo. Typos and the misuse of you're, your, they're, there and their aren't even related.

Don't forget lie/lay. Misused 80 percent of the time. (Lay used instead of lie as an intransitive verb. Wrong.) Much of what you and I see is probably due to Apple's decision to place the apostrophe key with the numbers as opposed to the letters on the IPad. Terrible decision.

One of my mother's favorite non-corporal punishments was to have us write dictionary pages. I estimate I've written the Webster's Unabridged at least 5 times cover to cover.

One misuse I see in sports threads is the use of loose instead of lose. I don't understand how that can happen. I cannot use internet or text shorthand either.

Seen and saw is one that drives me nuts. "I seen those new chips at the store"....No, you "saw" those new chips at the store....:madman:

Completely different. I hate listening to people who pronunciate words to a "tee". Drives me crazy, just sounds weird. Add a little swagger to your spoken word.
