Correct. Just because the sending school doesn't contest doesn't guarantee eligibility. However, if the form doesn't have any snags, no red flags are raised and the sending school doesn't contest, why would the organization bother with verification?

If they want to follow him to Ryle they will have to move just to attend Ryle. This has nothing to do with eligibility, Boone schools do not have open enrollment.

I am sure LN will correct me if wrong. My understanding of the rules is that a player is automatically ineligible when he/she transfers. The player has to apply to the KHSAA for an exception to be declared eligible.

 

Unless something has changed, the fact that a school doesn't contest the eligibility is irrelevant. So in other words, assuming the transfer form is accurately filled out by the sending school and the receiving school, an high school student that played varsity sports at the sending school is automatically ineligible for one year unless one of the enumerated exceptions is established. Now if the sending school failed to accurately report on the form that the student played varsity sports at the sending school, the KHSAA would automatically declare the kid eligible unless the KHSAA received information from another source that the kid had in fact played varsity sports at the sending school. The KHSAA is not the NCAA. They don't have near the budget nor manpower to check every transfer. They do rely on the schools accurately and properly filling out the forms. If the sending school doesn't report that the student played varsity sports while there, the KHSAA is going to approve eligibility. It has to, unless the KHSAA is provided credible information that the kid did in fact play varsity sports at the sending school. At which point the KHSAA is going to look into the matter.

It really doesn't matter if Ethan is eligible or not, there is no way Snapp is sending his son to Newport if he gets the job at Ryle, for any reason. Snapp is still doing things at Newport as if he is coming back next year. So that tells me he's not very sure he will get the job. Just have to wait and see.

That's not incumbent upon the sending school. There is virtually not much that they fill out on the transfer form. However, it is incumbent upon the receiving school to verify what they are considering as an exception to bylaw 6 which has been discussed ad nauseum on this site. If they have the appropriate documentation with the transfer form, and there's not a comment from the sending school pertaining to the transfer that they object to, then like LN says, the assoc. doesn't have the manpower or cash flow or desire to check the Ps and Qs of each transfer, considering the sheer volume. My point earlier was that if a school contests, then there would likely be scrutiny from the assoc. on the transfer.
