Yes they can personally afford all the vacations that they want, but the appearance to the American people is that in these tough times they are just flaunting their excess. There is a expense that is not paid for by the President and that is for the actual travel, staff and security...that would seem to be an unnecessary expense in these tough times. If the President is saying that everyone needs to tighten their belts should it not start with him, couldn't his kids have a "Stay-cation" plenty to do in DC. Set the example

I will be honest and answer this as truthful as I can.

 

I would not vacation like Obama does, I could not do that and preach sequester at same time or look people in the face that I know are struggling economically. I would lead by example for two reasons, my conscience of knowing my trip could have saved 2 or 3 jobs for someone and not giving critics a reason to say I did that when the country was hurting.

Clarification:The "have's" are constantly being told they should feel guilty because they have more than the "have not's", therefore the "have's" should give up more if their income. You know, the basic Class Warfare mantra, that kind of stuff. You feel that President Obama should freely vacation as much as possible at the taxpayers expense regardless of the fact that a large portion of this country struggling? I have no problem with the POTUS taking sometimes much needed vacation time, but he makes no bones about telling others to "sacrafice", very typical someone of his ilk, an over educated elitist that thinks himself to be above his own thoughts, theories, and philoshophies.

I would hope that every First Lady going into the White House understood the next 4 or 8 years would be a sacrifice. A sacrifice knowing that you will not be able to go anywhere you want or do anything you want because you and the President are constantly under a microscope and something that is actually innocent and reasonable could have the preception of being excessive and be taken critically by the public. I know if I were in a position to run for president, I would sit down with my wife (assuming I was married) and have a long talk about how life will change for us and our children should I win and if she HONESTLY can put up with that for 4/8 years. I would have no problem at all if the answer was no because I could completely understand it.
