Okay. The Obamas go on vacation. On our dime. When the economy is in the tubes.

 

 

For those that this bothers can you say you wouldn't go on vacation if you were in their shoes? If your significant First other says they are taking the kids to the Bahamas are you really going to say,"sweetie, there are people who don't have a job right now. Why don't you just take the train to Central Park and take them ice skating Sunday morning and return home that night so the people of the country won't be mad at us?"

 

I know I wouldn't tell my wife and kids that. Would you?

 

I'm going to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for this long weekend, taking my wife to a New Kids on the Block concert in Cincy in June, going to Myrtle Beach with the family in the May/June time period and just booked a cruise in July that is sandwiched in between a total of 3 nights in New Orleans. Why should I be mad if the Obamas are enjoying life also?

I dont think its the point of taking a vacation. Its the fact that they take what seems to be too many. Its like every other month they go somewhere.

Unless you're doing all that on someone else's dime it's apples to kumquats. Obama has actually bashed people for excesses. He's totally hypocritical when he allows this. But wait we're back to the everybody else in his position would do it so it's OK justification.

A few points. First I didn't see any bashing of Obama's kids, but if he did I think all president's kids shold be off limits. PP92 I agree with you that most people would do the same thing in his shoes more than likely. My problem is two folds though, the hypocrisy of asking for sacrifice is the obvious one, but the bigger issue is what he ran on, change. Doing business as usual doesn't work when you based your whole campaign on not doing business as usual. You basically ask to be held to higher standards. Call it unfair, but he put that undue burden on himself. Have all president vacationed in the past, ofcourse. After Obama's own statements and the Economic climate we live in should he be a little smarter, yes.
