March 20, 201313 yr I read a story today about a guy getting arrested for yelling "bingo." He walked into a bingo hall while a game was going on and decided to be funny and act like he won. He ended up getting arrested. Article used the "can't yell 'fire' in a theater" analogy. For those in tune with the law is that an accurate analogy? Can I go to a high school game and yell "strike 3" on every 2-strike pitch?
March 20, 201313 yr Tell a ref to go back to foot locker at any sporting event, see what happens, lol.

March 20, 201313 yr Author You could, but the ump would correct the count and you would be quickly escorted to the nearest exit. Why? I wouldn't have a fan removed who yelled "foul" on every shot . But to my point, is that different from a "criminal" standpoint than yelling "bingo?"
March 20, 201313 yr I worked the Kremer's Bingo tent at the St. Joseph (Crescent Springs) festival for years. Kids walking by shouted BINGO about every 45 seconds. Arrested???? Child please.
March 20, 201313 yr Basketball fans better not yell out foul, walk, over the back, 3 seconds I was at a high school game last year where a fan was loudly counting 1...2....3...4 (for perceived 3 second lane violations). The ref came over and barked into the crowed to STOP COUNTING. The ref couldn't have gotten more people to count if he had paid them $50.00 each
March 20, 201313 yr Sounds like something me or PP92 would do. Seriously. It'd be hilarious until I watch you get arrested.

March 20, 201313 yr Sounds like something me or PP92 would do. Seriously. While laying there like a slug. "Your honor, it was my only defense."
March 20, 201313 yr So WHO apprehended this felón? The 70 yr old chain smoking old timer that runs the Bingo Hall?
March 20, 201313 yr Question. Was he convicted? Being arrested is one thing, being convicted another. Yelling "Fire" in a crowded theater causes panic and places lives in danger. Yelling "Bingo" in a crowded bingo parlor does not. While this could lead to civil action on the part of the bingo hall, I see nothing criminal here unless his actions are perceived to have perpetrated a fraud.
March 20, 201313 yr Bingo patrons are intense, he's lucky he was arrested before those maniacs could get at him.
