Even further, UL went 4-3 against the top 25 RPI while Indiana racked up 7 versus the top 25. Let's stretch that out to the Top 50... Indiana: 9-6 Louisville: 10-4 Indiana's resume is extremely impressive. I don't think it's vastly better than Louisville's.
March 17, 201313 yr I don't think it matters where they get seeded. Don't see anyone playing better than UL right now and that's the most important thing. Hope they keep rolling. It's all about matchups anyway... There are a few certain teams I don't particularly fancy playing but hey, if you want to win the whole thing you've got to beat the good teams eventually.
March 17, 201313 yr UL goes from 16 down to a 17 pt. win. A 33pt turnaround in around 13 minutes, I know that Syracuse's Sutherland went out with foul trouble but that is very impressive. March 17, 201313 yr Seems that everyone is talking about Indiana and Gonzaga, UL and Kansas. I do agree that those are definitely amoung teams to watch/favorites I don't see anyone mentioning New Mexico. I have watched them play a few times and they are good, very good. The Lobo's are big, strong on the front front line and have a couple of very capable guards along with depth. I wouldn't overlook them.

March 17, 201313 yr It's interesting for UofL this year that the two players not frequently mentioned earlier this year that really keyed the victories against Syracuse came about because of coaching changes at other schools. As has already been mentioned, last night's hero, Montrezl Harrell, ended up at UofL after he re-opened his recruitment after Va. Tech fired Seth Greenburg. Luke Hancock, whose burst of great play in the game at Syracuse two weeks ago made him the star of that game, came to Louisville via transfer after Jim Larranega left George Mason to coach at Miami. That's the kind of luck any college team could use. Phenomenal work by the coaching staff at UofL to jump on those guys when the opportunity arose.
March 17, 201313 yr I believe this is the biggest reason people said before yesterday that IU was a lock, and presumably the overall #1 see (or in this case sent to Indianapolis). Most are caught up in UL's present run, and for good reason. But, we are told the totality of a resume is evaluated and weight is not added for how a team finishes a season. After looking through all this stuff for a good chunk of the day, I think it'll ultimately shake out with the one seeds heading in these directions: West: Gonzaga East: Duke Midwest: Indiana South: Louisville

March 18, 201313 yr Seth Greenburg was let go at VTech so Harrell opened his recruitment back up. He played at Hargrave Academy and UL assistant Keats recruited him to the prep school but took the UL job before he actually got to coach him, so there was an established relationship... UK was right there with UL for Harrell's services, weren't they?

Louisville got the overall #1 and I can accept that, but if I were an IU fan, I would be miffed. IU had a 7-2 conference road record, which was best in the country and in the best conference in the country this year. They were 5-0 against top 10 teams this year, and I believe it was 3-0 versus top 10 teams in the road. Louisville was 0-2 versus top 10 teams this year. RPI and SOS was similar are close. I guess UL was more or less judged on how they closed. IU, I think went 3-3 down the stretch while UL flourished in the end. I expect both to make the Final Four, and anything short of a national championship for either team will be a huge disappointment.
