Chase Floyd had already resigned. It is not fair to post the other names untill the school processes their resignation. I have confirmed that 4 varsity coaches from last season will resign. There is a fifth that is trying to decide. I was told that the resignations have nothing to do with the new coach.

No. Chase was let go by Coach Thompson before Coach Thompson was let go by Boone.

 

Niederman and Turner resigned. I think Steele resigned and maybe one other. Coaches Brown and Westhoff hope to stay on the staff and are running the weight program. And I may not have all the spellings right but you get the idea.

 

Thats a new tidbit. I did not realize the separation was not voluntary. If that's the case, then Bonne waited a long time before starting their search.

Yet another question for another thread. We all know Highlands is quick and could probably match up. But again, another thread.

I personally don't even Highlands can match up. When you play teams like Bowling Green you have to be mistake free to beat them and I'm sure you already knew that. I hope the new coaching staff is well aware of the challenges they face with the upcoming year. Just 2 years ago I thought Boone Co was probably the best team in Nky at the Frosh level. Hope they can build on that for the future.

I think the hire is a slam dunk and don't think it will take much for the Boone folks to buy into the new coach and his philosophy no matter what it is. They have not been very succesful in the recent past and they are hungry for a winner.

 

I'm sure some ego's were bruised among the current staff etc. but they are all adults and should move on, I hope there isn't any bad blood left lingering around the school and everyone who chooses to stay if the coach lets them or resign can give the man room to do what he feels needs to be done.

Guru, I disagree with Boone will be fine. I agree they have some fine skill players and some talented lineman but the issue is there are not enough of them. I know these young men and love them but numbers will hurt. I do not see any additional players coming out and making an impact no matter what is said on this forum there are not college calliber football players not playing currently, on the team

Here is my advice for the new coach:

 

1. Communicate with the students. Get the players excited and get them to talk to their friends. Talk with people in the school, find athletes who should be on the team and talk with them. Get in front of the students and get them pumped up. Create a buzz and make every athlete in that school want to be part of the football team.

 

2. Build the boosters, give them a vision of what they can do and tell them it is theirs to do. Tell them you will support them in any way you can but that you need to focus on football. Then stay out of it as much as possible. Get an assistant to be the liaison between you and the boosters. Stay focused on football and let the assistant handle the non football.

 

3. Get out and speak to community groups that have a connection to to the school. Attend some BCPWFL games and be visible. Create a buzz in the community.

 

The rest is coaching. So much of it is image, hype, etc. But that hype is needed to get a positive vibe going. Boone County needs that more than anything else to sustain success IMO.

You don't need an army of big time players to compete. Think back to when Simon had Miles Simpson and Ryle had Murray/Gray - Elliott/Hempel.
