You have to lead young men. You can coach till your blue in the face. They need to believe that what you are doing is for them, their team, their school, their community.

And can we have God on the field even if he isnt allowed in the school!

As a coach I prefer to help raise good young men of faith. Football is called the game of life for a reason. Many life lessons are taught on the field. You want a better football team? It starts with Character. THats all I meant.

Anyone else? Three things you would address with the new Coach if you were asked to advise him?

1. Embrace the history and great tradition of Rebel football. Bring ex players back and have them talk to the guys. Use Coach Hauck as much as possible.

 

2. Instill a great work ethic and get players involved in their community.

 

3. Get very involved in the youth programs and start camps and coaching clinics. Let all youth players in the games for free and start a recognition program.

That's a shame he feels that way. He did a lot for Boone, but what doesn't he like about the process is what is curious to me. I wonder if he's just dissapointed that they didn't hire someone from his coaching tree.

As for the topic, I do believe that Patience will be key for all involved.

 

Also, everyone will have to make sacrifices and put aside egos etc when rebuilding a program or when setting very high expectations.

These new coaches coming in know only 1 way and its the right way. It could rub alot of folks the wrong way but thats where the patience will come into to play the sacrifices will have to come from the people that say "we don't do it that way at Boone"

 

One of the biggest advantages for a new coaching staff coming in especially from outside the area is they don't know anyone and could care less about what happened in the past as they are only concerned about the future.

This is exactly what I was referring to, obviously BT has an axe to grind and all the "he said, she said" will have to end before BC moves forward imo.
