Sorry, it just seems to me Hauk is upset that one of his guys wasn't hired.

From the outside it looked like they were very thorough in their process and took their time. Unless someone tells us what he didn't like about it then we'll just have to go with what we do know and that is that they had a large number of applicants and took their time interviewing etc. I heard among the finalists were Boone's assistant also.

 

I hope it's not the case but it's starting to sound like for some reason Hauk thikns he's bigger than the program which would be a shame.

He is an 85 yer old man. Your out of your mind if you think he feels he is bigger than the program. He in fact did not put his support behind any of the individuals from the staff. They did not ask for his support. So don't speak of something you have no knowledge of. As far as the details they will come out. I have no ax to grind. Read my posts. Nothing negative of BCHS. The whole process was a joke.

Actually three of the seven finalist were Boone assistants.

 

So back to the thread, three things you would address with the new Coach if you were asked to advise him?

1. Create a culture of positive encouragement.

2. Off-season workouts ( 7 on 7 ) camps.

3. Spread out that boring offense. ( use your speed )

Coach Hauck has expressed his displeasure with process of the hiring. The administration made it perfectly clear they wanted no one who had the core values of Coach Hauck. That is shameful considering what he built. No one should be able to argue that.

 

Nothing personal towards Owen, but his time to influence and guide the Boone County football program has come and went. I can see Owen getting offended if he doesn't feel his thoughts and opinions on the next head coach were given the importance and credence he thinks his opinions deserve.

 

The last thing the Boone County football program needs is for some of the former coaches causing even a ripple of controversy concerning the new coach. The decision has been made and it is time for all people who support Boone County football to get behind the new coach. Any disagreements concerning the hiring or the process need to be kept to one's self.

First of all you are incorrect in your assumption of who I am. As a person who has given a lot to the program I can have an opinion. I have not said 1 bad comment about the coach. Last time I checked this is a message board to share views and thoughts. That's what I doing. I don't think all my views have to agree with yours.

You don't think he's getting any respect? I could really care less. Elitist attitudes don't do anything for me. He deserves as much respect as I do or anyone else breathing Gods air deserves.

 

Maybe the problem is you are giving him too much respect....Last I checked he never won a championship nor has Boone ever won a state title ..... ever. He gets enough respect, he deserves as much respect as any other former coach does.

First off I never once even had a guess of who you are so don't get your panties in a bunch. Secondly read what you just posted....you are correct this is a message board and we all are entitled to our opinions which is what I've stated....my opinion. I stick with my opinion, until you who have opened this can of worms to begin with, back up your claims with some facts. You refuse to so I will stick with my opinion that OWEN has his ego bruised because his man wasn't hired or he wasn't involved in the process.

I give him as much respect as anyone else. You refusing to state why he is upset after you being the one who brought it up tells me all I need to know about the situation.

 

Show me where I blasted an 85 year old man. He was a good coach, nothing special imo, but I respect the time he put in at the school.

Why you feel he is being disrespected is beyond me.

Sorry he wasn't happy with the process, I guess what I'm getting at is if you won't tell us why then why should we feel bad in the first place?

I would expect to see these things implemented by Coach Griffith:

 

1. An effort to platoon - This is HUGE and should be a staple of 6A football teams.

 

2. A TOUGH after-school based Winter Program - Team mentality is not made in the season but in the off season...and I mean a heck of a lot more work than just hitting the squat rack.

 

3. A methodical building of structure and improvement - It takes time to get a program on the right track. Boone will get better and then a little better, and then a lot better. Just you watch.

There's been very little involvement with the Pee Wee feeder system, the Freshman team was isolated and often ignored, and the JV team was often treated like a step-child and used primarily as a scout team. They didn't practice as a unit and didn't know who their kicker would be until the first game. There needs to be a plan and involvement from the Top down.

2. Utilize the athletes in the program. There is so much speed and athleticism on the team, yet many times it went to no avail because of the "system" which called for a run up the middle 30 times a game. Develop your system around your athletes, don't pigeon hole your athletes into a system. The game has become one based on speed and Boone has not adapted.

3. Embrace the community, parents, and supporters of the program. The former Coaches many times were polarized towards the ones who cared about the program most.

 

*On a side note, I've heard that Coach Griffith has already reached out to the Pee Wee program and he hasn't even got to town yet!

Your side note is correct. And has reached out to all the feeder middle schools as well. Very promising so far.
