  1. Thought this thread was Expectations at ryle. Not can we beat highlands yet?
  2. The numbers may not be drastically better, but I think the skill level is definatly on the upswing. True we lost some good seniors, true we may play some sophmores this year. Not because we dont have enough, because they are good enough and big enough to contribute. This may be a year that we fight for respect. But we are coming, the momentum is gaining.
  3. Did the older Ross kid graduate from Ryle. If not him and Soward are a good start. I agree good list.
  4. Bluebirds get all the love, Hate those fort cities... LOL is there any other kids on boone, cooper, conner, ryle, sk, .
  5. Starting with last years freshmen and two age groups behind them, they have been smashing everyone. So I think they will get some good athletes out of that span that will play on one team.
  6. Most programs don't have enough seniors and juniors unless they all go both ways. Just thought some underclassmen will have to step up and produce, Unless you have college size numbers on the team. We cant suit up 100 kids. I guess some programs can let the kids develop. I don't think we can. Not this year. Trial by fire here. Watch Jessie Bowling @ BC. Kid just keeps growing. Junior this year o linemen, Probably will play defense also.
  7. Fair enough. The better talent in this area the more scouts will flock to games and see a kid they might have overlooked. A lot of kids have been found when a scout is there to see somebody else. But believe that there has been a culture change at Ryle. There is no quit in these upcoming kids. With that good luck to all the programs, and stay healthy. After all it is just a game. ( the best darn game there is ) Lets raise some good God fearing young men through sports, academics and role models !!!!!!!!!
  8. oh, i was just curious. I know BC and Ryle are going to be young. I was just wondering about the other teams young guys also. Wasn't picking a fight. lol
  9. As a coach I prefer to help raise good young men of faith. Football is called the game of life for a reason. Many life lessons are taught on the field. You want a better football team? It starts with Character. THats all I meant.
  10. You have to lead young men. You can coach till your blue in the face. They need to believe that what you are doing is for them, their team, their school, their community.
  11. Oh no were not talking this year.. Even thought a few of them were varsity size last year. I'm talking next year. Of course these kids have to develop into varsity players. That's obvious. But the million dollar question is why is everyone down or doubt these kids can play and continue to play? Because they go to ryle? Have a sneeky suspition that if they were at a bluer school there would not be so much negativity. That we'd wait with anticipation for them to mature. Truth is these kids are football players and will grow and work hard like all the other schools. This happens to be a talented group. It happens at other schools too guys. But like with all other freshman teams everywhere we'll have to wait and see how it works out.
  12. Never claimed that their record was an automatic key to success. But what you may not know is that this grpoup has been winning for more than a couple years. Not just winning but crushing most teams. Sure they have lost, I think 3 games in three years. Of course varsity is different. But do you think varsity kids self spawn or are they younger kids being developed who become varsity players. These kids have built a character of winning. That may follow them it may not. Winners have a habit of winning.
  13. These are all Juniors and Seniors. Any local sophmores going to pop up on the map.
  14. I think the D will be younger and faster. Hopefully very agressive. The frosh, and JV weren't too bad at all last year. Only game they got beat was beechwood.
  15. Coaches that the kids want to play for and like. That will go a long way. I dont think they liked the last line coach much at all from what I hear.
  16. The frosh line did very well against frosh competition. They need to be able to start competing at the varsity level starting this year. I assume we will take some lumps but gain some good experience.
  17. He's not the only one who does that. Can we build our youth up, no matter what school they attend.
  18. It's true this team has struggled since the Elliot days. They are run oriented. In saying that they have a handfull, not just one, of talented young backs. A year to mature and then I think it's off to the races.
