Highlands Spring Football?

Featured Replies

Were there any surprizes after the first day? Which boys have stepped up their game? I heard from a very reliable source that someone at wr looked really really good yeaterday....:sssh:

Well apparently it rained cats and dogs all day long in Ft Thomas and low and behold and by grace of a miracle, the rain stopped just as the Birds took the field for their first practice of the Spring...:jump:

I thought this kind of stuff only happened in South Bend, this stuff is gettin creepy like:eyeonyou:

:lol2: I hear you. Same thing happens in Ft. Mitchell. The Beechwood players believe Coach Rash has power over the weather because that weather change happens all the time around practice time.

I was there.....

Could of swore that I was watching HHS's last practice before the 2012 State Finals. The faces change a little but the efficiency the team put on for their very 1st full equipment practice was very impressive. There will be some kids that have a breakout season this year that no one including myself thought would be possible.

I was very impressed with Jr to be WR and back up QB Beau Hoge. His quickness and route running ability was the best I saw yesterday bar none. By the looks of things Beau trained very hard in the offseason. He is filling into his family genes quite nicely. There were way too many kids to name that stood out yesterday but Beau was the one for me. Today is another day!

What are there no updates from today's action? From what I understand there was a little more contact today.

There was some contact today but nothing major. Basically a bunch of posturing by some of the older kids trying to set the pecking order.

Iam told the heavy stuff starts tomorrow and if any Highlands faithful want to see what the Birds will be all about this yr this practice will be a must see as usually the pecking order is determined when everyone is full go. :thumb:

The 3rd practice is usually a winter venting day as the guys let it out on one another, gets a little chippy at times to say the least.

I saw the last hour of yesterday's practice. O-line vs. D-line rushing a fake qb and pass blocking. They were going hard but it was tame.

After seeing his determination and tenacity as an 8th grader, I knew he wouldn't just disappear. I am excited to see what he can do this year. I can't remember how long it's been since I was this excited for the next season to start in March already. Oh wait, it was last year. But still, the uncertainty and potential discussed just makes it tougher to wait. I have already drank the Kool-Aid to become a member of "The 82 Crew." Hopefully he stays healthy and hungry.

How has Greene looked at WR? He is the fastest receiver correct? That kid literally flew up and down the hardwood.

What time on Friday? I may have to make an appearance to see some.

I know its early on, however I am just curious if anyone knows if they plan on Hoge playing significant Varisty minutes @ WR then turning around and starting as the JV QB or will Hergott take over JV.

Any other “arms” out there that people are seeing?

Only other are could be Kreeger, but I am not sure if he is playing or not. Expect Hoge to get quite a few reps at QB, but have no idea what they will do at JV level.

Hergott has been taking the snaps with the second team O.
