March 12, 201313 yr I've listed very few LOCAL bands here, and of the ones I have, Rockduster is the only one that didn't have national exposure. They played at our dance too (wonder if it was the same dance), but it felt more like a concert as no one was dancing. I do recall thinking that they were awesome, and that they should've been more famous. Lead singer was a complete wild man, I'm sure that hard rock lovers nationally would've taken to him in a heartbeat. I recall that all the guys at the event stood in front of the stage digging it, and all the girls, who'd rather hear dance music, all sat in the bleachers bored out of their minds. That show has forever stuck out in my mind as one of the coolest high school events that I attended back in the day. Check this out... Thank you for the flash back! We booked them about 9 months in advance. They became popular with the release of the WEBN album project that year. They tried to renig on their contract and we would not them out of it. They brought a very unusual crowd for the 'open dance'. We made a ton of money that year for student Government. The teachers did not care for the older than high school crowd that showed up.

March 22, 201313 yr Saw the Monkeys and Tony Bennett at Riverbend. Not together. Saw the Jackson 5 sing the National Anthem. Game 1 of the '70 World Series at Riverfront. Saw Leo Kotke at the Kentucky Theater in Lex. Saw Carlos Santana at Bogarts. Saw Junior Brown at the Taft. Saw Joan Sutherland at the RAC on Centre's Campus. Was going to see John Davidson at the Beverly Hills the night of the fire but plans were cancelled. (...not really, but if everyone who claimed to have almost gone that night would actually have gone - they would have had to rent Max Yasgur's farm to hold the crowd.)
March 22, 201313 yr I saw Anne Murray. A greatly underappreciated talent. She is one of those ladies who is better looking as an older woman than she was as a younger woman.
