Camels have only made it to the region 4 times in the last 10 years.

Mason Co only really has one player graduate of last years team in Chambers and they get back Boone and O'Mara who were out most of the year.

 

Augusta will have to replace Kelsch. But Mason Co and Augusta are top 4 teams.

 

A bunch can happen between now & November, but I would rank Mason County #1 in the Region next season.

I know we are talking about next year, but I went back and looked at a few pre season threads from this year. Cats Pause was not too far off. Augusta needed a little more love, but not bad. I also looked at Guru's sticky thread preseason rankings and he was not as acurate as Cats Pause.

I think you can go with either team, but I look at it like this: Mason loses very little from a team that Brossart beat by 5. While Chambers is gone, O'Mara was the Royals' #2 scorer & #2 rebounder when he went down with injury halfway through the year. Brossart loses its best player/leading scorer & also its floor general (and a very underrated PG). I think guard play will be the key for both of these teams' success next year. The front court for both will be among the best in the Region.

 

Agree on Montgomery County. They undoubtedly lose a lot with Omar & Tyler Jones. Wallace returns & I expect a big year from Piersawl, who I think can have a breakout year next season. Chase Hall & Darius Jones will step up production too.

 

If the big boy (Wilson) progresses, Campbell County could make some noise. Augusta basically returns everyone but Tanner Kelsch & I think they will be good. But I believe Coach Hinson will have a harder time replacing Kelsch than he did in replacing the nine seniors from last season. If GRC can make strides on the offensive side they're going to be really good. Harrison County returns Pulliam & a lot of other pretty solid role players. And you can never, ever count out Scott with Brad Carr on the sidelines.

 

I think the 10th in 2013-14 will be a lot like it was in 2012-13, except it won't be as heavy at the top spot.

 

Again, that's just looking at the way the rosters shape up right now. A lot can happen between now & then.

On Mason Co, I look at it this way. We had a chance to beat them at Mason this year and we are NOT the GRC teams of the past. They will compete, but I don't see them as pre-season #1 or in fact #2 or #3 either. Got to go with MoCo, and BB and then I would go with Augusta. You are comparing games and you have to look at Augusta beating Mason Co in the district and knocking them out of the regional tourney. First time in a long time. And Augusta only looses one player. Also they have Bach back. Then I think you could have reasonable reasons to have Mason Co at 4th. pre-season with what we know now. Over the summer alot can change, transfers in and out and coaching changes. Will be keeping my eye on Paris on who they get and if all their players return.

I think the 10th overall will be down again next year. But it wont have a dominant number 1 like Montgomery was this year. But i feel like Montgomery will repeat.

As I said, I believe Augusta will miss Tanner Kelsch more than most people think. He played much bigger than his 6'0 frame, which helped compensate for Augusta's lack of size. That'll be an issue for them in 2013-14.

 

It's a crapshoot as of right now & very fun to debate. But if I could take over any roster & coach it in 2013-14, it would be the Mason County roster.

MoCo has Wallace, Jones and Hall all starters that almost made the finals of the state tourney. Yes they will miss Omar and T Jones, but it remindes me of the GRC team that lost Zollo, Stenzel, Daniels, ect. but repeated as regional champs with less experience in Bopper, Fatkin and Rogers.
