Blarge

They saw what they saw whether we agree or not. Not sure how it's a bail out.

What's a better option?

I've see it more than once, the officials huddle, decide what the correct call is, then make it. Gotta be one or the other.

If they both call a foul and then one changes his/her mind they are not following the rulebook. Simple as that. The only time I could say a foul being waved off is if the refs get together and determine that a violation occurred right before the foul. That make sense. That logic cannot be applied to a blarge.

The offensive player was either at fault or it was a block. CAN'T be both in my opinion. Sounds like you agree with that. If so, who's wrong? Sounds like it's one of the officials. In that case the penalty paid is by one team or another for a wrong call by one of the officials.

No argument with anything you say. Obviously, it can't be both. One official was wrong. Now what? I've got a block. You've got a charge. Who wins? Why?

If neither yield, then no foul on either, go to possession. I'd prefer that to a foul on my guy when the zebra's couldn't agree.

There are 3 officials, the third official should have an opinion; even if his vantage point wasn't as good as the other two. Quite often I see refs signal opposite direction on balls that go out of bounds. Occassionally it's a jump ball, more often than not the they either agree who had the better position or the third ref weighs in.

To anyone who has seen the video, what was the correct call?

Who gets the ball after a blarge?

Made basket, the team that just gave up the bucket. Missed basket goes to the arrow.

In my opinion, it should go to the arrow every time.

The third official may not have seen it if it wasn't in his primary area. All officials have primary areas and sometimes these areas overlap. That's why you may have two officials blowing on the same play. That's why the third official is not an option. If all three officials are ball watching, who's watching the other players who are not around the ball. Good officials stay in their primaries and trust their partners to cover their's. Blarges happen, it's part of the game.

I understand how and why it happens, and to some degree am surprised that I have never seen it before in my

50+ years of watching basketball. Does anyone have a video link for the game?

I don't care what any book says, not possible.

And I have to assume he was joking. Was it Clyde?

I agree 100%!!!
Your logic would infer one of them was wrong. The rule exists to bail one of them out.
BINGO!!!
BINGO!!!

Could you imagine such a rule in another sport?

Upon further review, the runner was down at the one, AND he did cross the goal, TD ! I'm looking forward to the next foul-homerunF0-RUN !
