February 28, 201313 yr In a one-sentence news release Wednesday, publicist Kymm Britton said: "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland." No other information was provided. "Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out," he said. "In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday." Read more: Scott Weiland fired from The Stone Temple Pilots | Fox News
February 28, 201313 yr Okay music guys and gals, what is the rest of the story here? The sky is blue, the Pope is Catholic, and Weiland has LSD...Lead Singers Disease.
February 28, 201313 yr Okay music guys and gals, what is the rest of the story here? One of irrelevance. Does anyone really, truly care about this band after its first three amazing records? It registers with me about as much as anything Axl Rose does. Actually, that's not true. I think a lot more highly of STP than any of the garbage Axl put out.
February 28, 201313 yr I am beyond shocked that Weiland isn't read already. That said Core has to be one of the best albums in the last 1/4 century. Weiland is, or at least was, as talented as anyone in the business. Then drugs and success went to his head.

February 28, 201313 yr STP was my favorite band of that era, and their music has held up very well. That being said, Weiland has been a real jerk most of his career, and really at this point, does any one care who's in STP or what Scott Weiland is doing right now Edited February 28, 201313 yr by Randy Parker Rule 8
February 28, 201313 yr I think, excepting maybe Pearl Jam, pretty much all of the early 90s grunge rock bands have fallen into irrelevancy. Scott Weiland is washed up...plane and simple. Dude's been arrested for possession of pretty much every illicit drug and controlled substance, has a few DUIs, and it's edging up on 20 years since he had anything to do with putting out significant new music. Zero doubt in my mind that the band dumped him because of his continued problems with substance abuse. Side Note: STP's cover of Led Zeppelin's Dancing Days is one of the greatest covers I've ever heard.
February 28, 201313 yr Author I guess what made me scratch my head was his comments about how could he be terminated from a band he founded and fronted?
February 28, 201313 yr I guess what made me scratch my head was his comments about how could he be terminated from a band he founded and fronted? I've never formally looked into how a band is made up as far as a business entity is concerned, but I'm sure once they get heavily involved with record labels and recording contracts, there ends up being some kind of legal organization to bands that would allow them to formally fire a member.
February 28, 201313 yr Wasn't he kicked out a decade ago then joined Velvet Revolver? Only to be kicked out from there too?
February 28, 201313 yr Jim, "Appetite for Destruction" garbage?? You're jumping the shark. Nope. I don't much care for the sound of wailing cats, and that's Axl. His sunny personality really puts him over the edge for me.
