Bengals coaches want Rey Maualuga back

Featured Replies

“He is, as you will find out when this free agency period starts, a lot better than what a lot of people give him credit for,” Zimmer said, via the team’s website. “I think that’s going to be what people are going to find out if he goes. If he’s not here people are going to miss him and say we should have had him. That’s how it works, like Justin Smith.”

So Zimmer thinks Maualuga will be Justin Smith like!?!?!?

Whatever Coach, and if you really felt that way Rey would have already been signed.

I am not a big Rey fan, I think he is a backup NFL LB and a special teams player.

Either way, I think this also tells us two things, the Bengals are trying to pressure Rey to sign cheap and the Bengals don't like the FA and/or draft LBs they see out there.

After those comments I might have to change my mind about what I said about Mike Zimmer in the other thread..................:D

I sure hope he signs a long term deal with the Bengals.

The coaches that want him back should be fired immediately.

When I read this stuff from Zimmer I know why no one hires him as a head coach.

That's crazy talk!

And you also know why the Bengals can't win with this entire staff.

When one of the worst starting LB's in the division is praised by the Bengals coaches there is no reason to think things will change soon.

I can agree with you on this. Does not make much sense to keep him, unless they plan on moving him back to the Sam backer. Which in that case he really doesn't play to many plays in the game, and is only in on true running formations. If they move him there and get him cheap then I am fine with it. However other than that I definitely don't agree with it, he has not been good.

Not good news for Bengal fans.

Didn't the Gals let get of their LB coach and Rey still struggled. It's not the coaching.

Yes.

Ray is a step slow and a little stiff.
