Holmes' first 5 possessions of 4th quarter

 

-Bolden drive by Seibert and McDonald for runner over Schulte on baseline

- Chames strong take, up and over Schulte

 

McDonald and Beuter buckets mixed in.

I love Bolden's game but it's hard for me to pass on a team with two solid bigs with quality guards to boot. NCC by 4.

Score was 65-56 Newcath with 2:55 left...wow. 13-2 run by Holmes before Pangallo hits jumper with 3 seconds left.

Third quarter

 

Newcath goes to Schulte right away who scores over Englemon. Foul called on Coston for apparent push. Newcath misses shot, Holmes doesn't box out and Schulte gets loose ball and bucket less than 30 seconds in to the quarter...39-28.

 

Two rushed shots in a row lead to baskets for Newcath at the other end.

 

Just watched the play Clyde asked me for video of with McDonald charge....it was a good call. Englemon rotated over and set up for the charge before Drew went in to him.

 

That was my opinion seeing it live.

After watching the entire film, I'm convinced that this was the best game both teams played all year.

 

Bolden had a career night.

Seibert had a career night.

 

Both teams had a chance to win. Newcath missed free throws down the stretch to give Holmes an opportunity, including Seibert missing the front end of a one and one that led to the Bolden go ahead 3 but people forget Housely missed the front end of a one and one down 67-66.

 

Newcath led the entire game, but Holmes had 2 opportunities in the 4th quarter and OT where they should've been able to put the game away but didn't. 4th quarter they stop playing defense when Pangallo hesitates, leading to the wide open jumper with 3 seconds. (still a clutch shot) OT they go up 3 with 15 seconds left on a Chames dunk and foul at the other end instead of letting Beuter have the basket and then seal the game at the line with Bolden and Palmer.

 

Is it Tuesday yet?!? I'm ready to see this rematch.

 

Captain Obvious, I know, but both teams have a lot to work on before now and Tuesday. Both teams' strengths are the oppositions biggest weakness.

That was my opinion seeing it live.

 

Spot on. Englemon was even there long enough to get the hands down and "protect himself."

I will make this prediction - if Holmes has as many assists or more than NCC, they will win the game.

I look for Pangallo and McDonald to come up big for the Breds!

 

After watching Holmes play CCH and not seeing much on the inside, I feel as though McDonald will have his way down low (both offensively and defensively). I don't see Holmes getting a lot of second shot attempts on the offensive end and if NCC can pound the ball down low to McDonald early it could be a long night for the Holmes front line.

 

I predict NCC will get up early on Holmes with Pangallo's penetration and shooting along with dishing to McDonald which will cause Holmes to get into early foul trouble. The Dawgs will struggle shooting from the outside early in the game. NCC will get out to a 10 - 12 point lead in the first half and control the game in the second half.

This is similar to how I see it. I feel Holmes will dig itself a hole and this time will not be able to dig out. NC 72-62.

 

Why stop there, I like NewCath to beat Bullitt East in State opener. Bullitt East very good, not great. (Have relatives in Shepherdsville).

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing..........just because the bench doesn't score a bunch of points doesn't mean they lack depth, this is pure nonsense. :ohbrother:

 

Devoto and Dupont are both excellent ball-handlers. Devoto is without question the "toughest" kid on the team and plays solid "D" when called upon. Dupont is more than capable of putting the ball in the hoop. Weyer and Franzen are more than capable of providing "quality" minutes to give the "bigs" a break and if need be garner a bucket or two.

 

I agree, All nice ball players and could possibly start on most teams in the area, I've seen NCC several times and from looking at the box scores from the All A it did not seem like coach utilized these subs very much in crunch time. I agree they can give you a few minutes and not hurt you, but they are just not at the level of that starting 5. If they have to use them for extended periods they could be exposed.

 

I'm still going with the Breds in this one. I'm sure Brannen has his game plan ready and all members of team will execute it to perfection.

This game will be decided by the best coaching staff. Holmes by 8.

Holmes needs to limit Drew McDonald's minutes via foul trouble. I'd attack him and see if he fouls. The longer he's on the floor the worse it is for NCC (Captain Obvious alert).
