February 22, 201313 yr Can anyone recommend a reputable roofer in NKY? I have a leak that decided to re-appear tonight. I have the location pinpointed, just need someone to climb up and fix it. I don't do 2 story roofs.

February 22, 201313 yr Don't use Laycock Roofing. He did mine last year and I came home today and my ceiling is wet and his number is disconnected. :madman: I'm going to his house tomorrow.
February 22, 201313 yr Careful on roofers. A lot are shysters, to the point where they have defrauded the insurance for years, causing your homeowner rates to rise. A little hail? You need a new roof. Thank God technology and insurance enhancements are enabling the carriers to crack down on these shady practices.

No-one will crack down on these guys until insurance companies have adjusters that will get on a roof and investigate. The average homeowners' insurance went up 22% in the state this year, particularly due to this practice. I was hit with a 25% increase last month. Thanks for all the recommendations. I have someone coming out this weekend to hopefully resolve this issue. It happened last year, and it appeared again last night. The water is coming in, running down the trusses and pooling along the tape lines of my master ceiling. The wet tape peeled right off last night. I just fixed it all last year, and now I have to do it all over again. Luckily, I can do the drywall repair and don't have to pay someone else to do it. If I would've just bought a ranch, I could possibly do the roof repair too.

My rates went up and I have never used my homeowners insurance...."knock on wood". He told me its because of the recent storms in the area and I politely disagreed with him. I have been told personally by a roofer how to get a new roof paid for by the insurance company. Its total fraud.
February 23, 201313 yr James W Smith Sons Roofing, Butler, Ky (859) 472-2897. Don Smith (Owner). Not the best looking bunch in the world, but they are top-notch roofers and people to boot. Very, very knowledgeable and will not give you a load of bullcrap. They have done 8 roofs on my street alone without a single issue, and very reasonable prices.
