HC and Dixie within single digits of CCH.... Beechwood within 10 of CCH and Holmes..... Holmes/Cov Cath/Highlands could probably beat each other on a given night.... Like I said, there is a difference, but I'm not sure it's that big of one if a team is shooting well.

This game should have never been close. Holmes with a 14 point lead at half time and they played a slow down game in the second half and all most lost the game. Henley needs to turn his kids lose in a full court game and then no one in the 9th Region would touch Holmes.

 

CCH held Holmes to only 1 point in the 3rd quarter I believe, and the CCH announcers said that Noll may have had something like 8 rebounds in the 3rd quarter alone.

 

Holmes is the #1 team in the 9th, but anything can happen. I'm not ready to give them the crown just yet...

I heard one big key to the game was when Henely switched Henderson on Jacobs and took Hill off.

 

I wouldn't say CCH is in a whole different league over HC,Dixie, and Beechwood, when they had hard fought battles in each.

After watching the game tonight I would say that the ninth region could go to any of the top 6 or 7 teams. Holmes, Covcath, and Highlands should be at the top, but they are NOT head and shoulders above the Holy Cross, Dixie, NCC, and Beechwood's as was thought earlier in the year.

I would agree with this. I think the 9th region is way way down. I thought Holmes would be better tonight. Cov Cath always plays them tough. Anyone can win this region. I didn't think the refs were that bad. Every set of refs calls games differently. I certainly do my share of yelling at them, but you couldn't pay me enough to do their job. What a thankless job. Does anyone know what they get paid per game? Was a good game. This region is up for grabs.

When CovCath got the ball back and called a time out in the last 12 seconds or so, the Colonel Section chanted "God's on our side"... Holmes responded with "We've got defense". That was a good comeback.

The pregame show was impressive considering the kid is 5'11. Did you see how many times he was "at the rim" tonight going for offensive boards?

Very good game but I expected it to be a little more high scoring. Can't wait for the Highlands/Holmes game. That being said, I AM NOT making excuses, they did not lose this game, the better team won the game but the 9th region refs, to me, just don't seem to appreciate CCH. I saw a few bad or missed calls tonight and I believe that this is the same ref crew that did the CCH/Highlands and I saw a few of the same types of calls tonight. Missed charges, charges that were blocks and vice versa, they didn't have any bad traveling calls they just missed a few. And yes, they had maybe 1 or 2 bad calls for CCH but it just seems like to me that they are missing the big calls and calling the little stupid things that no one cares about like pushes and stuff. Anyways, kudos to both teams. Can't wait till regionals.

 

I have to agree with Benihanas on the ref crew. It seemed at the beginning of the game the only ref that could blow the whistle was the tall blonde. The ref handing out double techs needs to lighten up or toughen up. He seems to lack the confidence of a high school official. The third ref was actually arguing with a female Holmes fan during play. Come on....for all those out there that ref any type of high school sport, you have to have broader shoulders than that. You have to get out there and get your job done and ignore the comments coming from the fans.
