I heard awhile back that the KHSAA was going to sanction cheer leading as a sport. As far as I can see from the website this has not happened yet. If/when it does, will schools be hurt or helped by this new administrative chaperone rule? For instance, will a girls coach demand a chaperone because a boys team got one to go to a certain competition? Or, will schools be forced to limit ho many out of town trips all teams can make in order to be fair? Probably another thread....

In response to Punttheball, SK has two coaches who are considered administrators. Kind of gives those teams an advantage if they want to do an out of state game or tourney.

Does the school rent warehouse space for all the boxed-up, used uniforms in all its sports? Because it seems to me the trend anymore is that sports teams get new uniforms every year, and some teams (baseball and softball being examples) do multiple uniform sets each year.

 

Seems like a pretty dumb rule. If you pay for it, you should get to keep it.

Normally any old ones not used are kept in our own storage room. Will the sport of Cheerleading get its own BGP category? Or group with "Swimming/Tennis/Track/LaCrosse" or "Golf/Soccer/Volleyball"....big decision for the Guru!!

A cheerleading board certainly has more promise than the tennis board one guy wants. hey, we get it your kid plays tennis. That is what Facebook is for. Cheerleading, on the other hand, has so much potential. Females joining BGP, the cattiness, mothers with unrealistic expectations (yes, they are worse than dads). What's not to like?

I can't speak for other programs but we have not used the numbered T-shirts with names on the back. We don't put names on the back at all and the closest we came to t-shirts was a sports performance material (not exactly sure what material) with Colonels across the front and the numbers on the back. The varsity kids kept theirs the year we got them and the rest are still used as freshmen jerseys.

I have some limited experience with it and I have seen grown adults act like they are two when it comes to cheer competitions that frankly don't mean a damn thing.

I do want to stick to the topic of the thread and anyone is free to start another thread for any sub-topics.

I know you want to stick to the topic but...cheerleading and cheerleading competitions are made for message boards. The winner of each competition is based on opinions. What more could you ask for when it comes to open forum debating?

Not calling you out, but I love the term "sports performance material." I'm guessing I've seen a few of those over the years, and I'm guessing they look like T-shirts while not actually being of T-shirt material. As a result, my question applies to those as well.

I've found it strange over the past year that Kenton County Schools seem to spend a lot of energy worrying about who is supervising a field trip but they have no policies written into their athletic code regarding drug use.
