Best Fish Frys in the Area

Featured Replies

I'm actually in the process of joining the parish there. Really neat church IMO.

I LOVE St. Patrick's! If you are ever there late at night during the week you may see me in the Chapel, as I try to go 2 times a week.

Because the taste and quality of the fish far exceeds any other fish fry around.

I like it! Plus the drive-thru.

We will be checking it out this summer once our daughter is out of Kindergarten. We can have BGP meetings at mass haha

See you all there!

St Paul has to be on the list for their other seafood items. MQH is quality fish, light breading, you can taste the fish. No question one of the better ones around.

I will give them another try this year. My judgment is based on the traditional fish, fries (or onion rings) and slaw, not the rest of the menu or "The Codfather" marketing efforts. I will report back with my thoughts.

Be prepared for a long wait if you eat-in. Prices are higher than most.

Try the Newport Elks Lodge on US 27 in Alexandria.

Heard that's a good one.

The owner of Izzy's, John Geisen, is a member of the parish and is the "advisor". He is also known in the ads as the "Codfather".

What is his qualifications to be a fish expert? Corned beef I could see.

I don't think his corned beef is that special.

Anybody have a suggestion on a fry in the Lexington Area. Gonna be at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary.

Those are reasons why I usually don't go there. Plus I don't remember it being worth the wait or the extra cost.

Drive on over to Frankfort......was great the last time I went.....Atlantic Cod breaded by hand on the spot......pretty tasty!!

Agreed. BTW, MQH is not my parish, I am just the messenger. My wife and I fought the crowd to go there a couple years ago. We normally support St. Pat's or Holy Cross High School's fish fry. Ash Wednesday was Holy Cross' opening night. They have baked fish now and a new fried cod recipe which is a lot better than what they used to have. Best of all...got to be the lowest prices in NKY...no waiting!!!! We had cod with Koz Wednesday night!

This is in Cold Spring between Furniture Fair and County Square.

Cheap beer, great cod filets.
