Joe Flacco is a blatant cheater!

What does intentionally walking a batter say about character?

That is part of the game. Trying to rally your teammates to cheat is different.

I don't attach any measure of character to it.

So not competing is part of the game?

How about intentionally throwing at a batter? Or the pitcher who does not do it in retaliation and pisses off his team mates for not doing it?

what about when you hear defensive coaches tell their DB's that if you are beat deep on a pass play just grab the WR? The flag is better than giving up a TD.

dd,

If you are going to argue make it apples to apples.

strategy

Throwing at a batter happens all the time. I'd compare it to a late hit in football. Pass interference is also much different.

And an intentional walk isn't "not competing". It's a strategy that is well within the rules.

There is a difference in having a penalty made by a player already on the field for the play than having someone on the sidelines run onto the field for a penalty.

As Guru said you need an apples to apples argument like

in a baseball game have someone from the dugout run out and tackle a hitter running to first to keep him from getting to the base and being thrown out.

Title is misleading. He didn't cheat. He can talk about it and be serious about it but until the opportunity presents itself and he does it, he's not a cheater. Not in this area anyway.

I wish Ginn had broke lose. Flacco doesn't have the stones to back up that talk.

No cheating if it didn't happen!

Spoken like a true gentlemen, besides..... he was just kidding:D

Not in my opinion, it speaks to character. It says we don't have to follow the rules.

My examples were if reference to where Guru says that "it says we don't have to follow the rules."

I am pointing out that players/coaches knowing break the rules all the time to win. Sometimes it is done in the name of "strategy." Heck, telling your guys to foul at the end of a basketball game is telling them to break the rules. If I remember correctly that was not commonplace until the late 70's early 80's.

Yes but the examples you are giving are about players on the field of play vs. players not on the field of play. Apples and oranges...

To quote from another thread on BGP, is Flacco no longer an Elite quarterback as a result of this?

You would have to ask our elite poster, Hellbird.

My examples are about knowingly breaking rules. In your post you suggested that knowingly breaking rules is uncommon and I am pointing out that it is not uncommon.

That is how I am viewing it but to each his own.

I will say that if he would have went thru with it or one of his teammates did it would have been reason to permanently ban that player for life.
