Great lists of coaches. I want to put in another plug for Sullivan. Not only is he a great defensive coach, but he is one who gets the most out of his players. There are 2 players on this years squad he has truly molded into big important parts of this years team. 1 Drew Shelton who he has turned into one of the best big men in 9th district and another who not only didn't play much as an 8th grader and actually stopped playing and didn't play much at all until Sully got a hold of him last year is spencer Holland. Sully is a great coach who brings out the best in his players which I always thought was as big a part of coaching as the X's and O's.

 

Ditto! He is the man. Good guy and good coach. What he has done in five years is amazing!

Why do you say this? Doesn't Hester need a head coaching job first? I know he is a Steiner asst and I'm sure he does a fine job, just don't know why he doesn't have a head job yet. SK had that JV job open this year... I wonder if he didn't want it, or just wasn't next in line.

Sometimes the name you make for yourself on the AAU circuit isn't one to be proud of.

 

I think the coaching style of many AAU teams in NKY is solid. It's not all just run and gun and built around one or two players like so many AAU teams around the country.

I'm with you that McQueary is rising on my list and he did take a group of less talented athletes and beat a group of better athletes. But before you get too excited I just read through 67 posts and did not see coach Snapp mentioned in this thread.

I think we are in similar canoes....I think Carr is very good and yes that region has been tough, but conversly his district has not been overwhelming.

I think Booher at Holmes is solid-no region titles here, but a state crown. I also think McQueary at Boone is vastly underrated. I totally agree with Brannen and Code and I would throw Faust of St. Henry in there too. (Although he has had either a real rough drought or lack of talent coming through as of late.)

 

I think you are underrating the 37th District. Other than the 35th with Holmes, CovCath and Holy Cross it has been as tough a district as there is in Northern Kentucky and without a doubt the toughest district in the 10th Region. Pretty much on a yearly basis there is a top 5 team in the 10th Region sitting at home come regional time.

 

Winning 4 districts in a row is quite an accomplishment coming out of the 37th and during that run he had the misfortune of matching up with some very, very good GRC teams during the regional tourney.
