Is there a better adjective to use when you lose to your rival by 60+?

 

I don't follow MSJ; however, I have a friend who is a former player/coach for them and those were his thoughts about the current situation at the Mount and the talent they are attracting.

 

I am not a big follower of MSJ either. However, I just looked them up. In the last six years they have an overall winning record and have had only one losing season, going 4-6 this past season. Maybe things are going in the wrong direction, but I would hardly say they have been "miserable" recently.

I know Coach Thompson has caught a lot of flak over the years on here and I've given him some due to his aversion to the pass but I've always thought he seemed like a good dude.

Does anyone have Coach Thompson W&L record handy, playoff appearances, etc.

They have his overall record as 94-83 with 3 state semifinal appearances.

My guess is he will be like the vast majority of the other Mt. St. Joes staff and continue to teach in HS, but Coach at MSJ instead of Boone.

 

I believe his son was on the team last year. Sounds like a chance for him to be involved with his son again. An opportunity he probably didn't want to pass on.

I'd think the long-time DC at Boone would be a strong candidate.

 

Mistake, they need to get someone that's not involved with the program..

little over .500, not that impressive for high school IMO.

I didn't play football at Boone County, but had a few classes with Coach Thompson and was always a big fan of him. Helped paint the football field instead of learning finance on a couple of occassions. A great guy and I wish him the best with his upcoming opportunity.

 

I really hope that Boone doesn't lose Niederman.

When you are a 6A school who I'm sure two platoons quite a bit, and you give up almost 33 point/game (8 out of 11 opponents scoring 31-45 points), the Air Raid is the last thing you need to be concerned with.

 

With that said, a guy that took the Boone County program to 3 State Semi appearance in the last 9 years, along witha run of 10 consecutive winning seasons just resigned. Wanting more and never being satisfied is human nature, but here is guessing you just lost a guy who was a pretty good football coach. Maybe it has a little more to do with the ole' Jimmies and Joes, instead of the X's and O's?

Ever since Hilvert left to take TM job MSJ has slowly declined.

My son played for Coach Thompson this year and he has him in class. My son really likes Coach Thompson, even when Coach Thompson gets on him. Just the other day my son was telling me a story and he was a little tweaked and I told him Coach Thompson was exactly right.

 

On Coach Niederman, I strongly assume that Boone will hire outside and like MJ said I hope Niederman stays on the staff. Coach N lives and breathes Boone football from weightlifting before and after school, to coaching, to having a personal relationship with all the kids on the team and their parents. Very impressive man and a great role model for my son.
