1/22: Newport Catholic at Highlands Predictions

Featured Replies

Newcath will travel to Highlands Tuesday night in a 36th district match up.

Newcath comes in 17-2 after winning the All A Classic.

Highlands comes in 7-11 after a 54-42 loss to Boone.

Thoughts?

This could be an interesting game. NCC is getting over some illness and will have first round of All A less than 48 hrs after this game. Do they play a lot of JV players, go full out or even play this game at all? If they go deep in the all a, they will possibly go over the total # of games allowed.

Backyard brawl that is always a close game. Last season the Birds lost up on the hill and had a chance to tie it in the end. Houliston had a breakout game scoring 25 in that one.

NCC clearly is the favorite and will pose matchup problems with Schulte and McDonald. Might be the first time anyone sees a PG defending a 6'8 kid. I wouldn't be surprised to see Witte defend Schulte as he is strong enough to keep him out of the paint. True will likely match up with McDonald.

The fun part of these games is the fact that 6 kids all played AAU ball together during grade school and jr high and a lot of great memories and friends were made. Witte, turner from Highlands along with DuPont, Devoto, Beuter and Siebert all played with the Rockets/Warriors. You can bet the competitive juices will be flowing. All great kids from great families.

If NCC is in jeopardy of going over the max games allowed mark, this is not the game to cancel - All A in 48 hours or not.

As Q said this is a bunch of kids that grew up together, played with or aginst each other for years. Dupont, Beuter, Seibert, Weyer, Neff all from Fort Thomas.

On paper this game is a mismatch. Like most of the Thoroughbred opponents, HHS will struggle to handle the size of NCC. Hoping for a close, competitive game.

I agree this is a mismatch on paper BUT..... Sometimes theres games when you can throw records out. I do think NCC will win but hopefully they are all clicking on all cylinders with the health issues and If NCC has everyone back healthy they should win this one going away.

THIS.

If NCC gets up on Highlands they will not run up the score like CC did.

In the past NCC had an agreement with St. Henry that if either team made it out of the All A Regional they would cancel their regular season game. Seeing that NCC is scheduled to play St. Henry on Feb 5th it wouldn't surprise me if a similar arrangement exists this year.

What time is this game?

JV 6:00

Var 7:30

Might you grace us with your presence?.

Mex will be there with his Highlands shirt on!! I hope the Breds sit any player who might have some of the flu bug they were fighting last week. Always a fun close game and meaningful for the kids but not worth a kid still being sick for the all A.

Or spreading their germs to the opposing team.

Or spreading their germs to the opposing team.

Which has probably already happened.

Wish I could be there for this one. I know it's a long shot but my first loyalty is to the Birds so I'm hoping for an HHS victory. I am a realist though so I'm sure the Breds will win.

Newport Catholic 62-54.
